Does anyone know the measurements of the Milodon 31580 Road Race Pan for a hemi at the widest part of the sump? I'm trying to see if this will fit in my hemi cuda with 2 1/4" tti headers and stock steering and suspension. According to tti's website, it will clear the headers, but they also said that they clear power steering boxes and I had to clearance a tiny spot on the steering box to get them to fit.

That’s an excellent pan, my absolute favorite. Wish I could help you. Sold my 69 rr with one years ago. I remember it cleared well with 1 7/8 hookers and stock steering. I was really impressed with how it tucked up, had oil temp port, all those baffles. Just a nice piece.

I have the milodon road race pan on my 1966 coronet. Its factory hemi K frame and mounts, all the steering in factory parts with manual box, and I am running TTI 2 1/8 headers I have no trouble with the pan. I like it because it give you ability to have large oil volume and does not cause issues with ground clearance. I have a build thread on here of my 66 coronet with some pictures you can check out if need be. Funny thing I picked up an old nascar pan at Carlisle this year, and it is very similar to the milodon pan. Matt

Thanks for the pictures and replies. I just ordered one from Jegs, it'll take about two weeks until it arrives though.

I see that milodon lists their part number 32006 windage tray for this oil pan. Will the stock tray not work? Also, is there an issue with not installing the bracket for the pickup tube underneath the main cap bolt? I'm very skeptical on loosening the bolt and installing the bracket. I'll have just under a 1/4" less contact on the main cap bolt with the bracket underneath.

Has anyone ever installed this pan with the engine still in the car? I don't know if my issue is because I have studs for my oil pan, but I can't even get the windage tray in place and the oil pan doesn't want to go in place either. I tried rotating the pickup tube to get the windage tray in place, but it still won't go. Not sure if there are any other tricks to make this work. Thanks

I had to remove the studs from mine to get the pan on/off in the car. The ones across the front and the first two back on each side had to come out. I left the rest of them in.

Thanks I cheated and solved the problem by going with an external pickup version of the pan. I can easily get the pan off and on now by just removing the centerlink.

You might use a hoist. Can’t remember exactly what I did, just it went in without fuss.

Here are three other tips learned the hard way.
The rear seal fixture uses two shorter bolts or they can bottom out and not clamp the gasket well.
Bottoming out the block pan bolts can cause them to crack and pop open the pockets into the crankcase.
The pan rail stiffening plates really help keep the pan bolts from dimpling the pan's sheet metal and spread additional clamping force along the pan rails.

It looks like I may be able to get the pan in with the studs still installed. I found the problem is that the pickup tube is actually hitting the side of the oil pan and stopping it from lining up with the studs. It's actually in line with the oil pan rail on the engine block. I double checked and it's the correct matching pickup for the oil pan. Did anybody have to modify their tube or change anything with the oil pump?

The bracket that bolts to the main cap has about a 1/2" to 3/4" gap between the pickup and bracket too.

I looked up this pan after reading this thread just to see the price these days. Lots of guys saying the pickup is all wrong and requires reworking. I don’t remember anything being wrong with mine. That was around 2009.
