so i have a 06 6.1 300 bolt on mods (intake, headers k+n and 91 diablo tune). previous owner did long tubes and ditched the cats. hate the engine light on so i put a new set of cats and new o2's in it. 220 miles no problem and then the light comes on tonight. p0420 and p0430 cats. not sure where to start looking now. live data on o2's and short term fuel look ok.
any ideas where i should start? i have the o2 extensions i could throw in the downstream o2's to see if that helps. cleared the codes and drove another 50 miles with no problems.

hemifever tune to tune out the issues?
something i am overlooking?

Odds are that you will need to install the O2 extensions downstream, that's where I'd start.

The shop that tuned my 2010 Challenger SRT8 6.1 to get it to pass emissions had to install 2 of them on each exhaust pipe so it wouldn't trip a code for the O2's.

From what I've heard, the extensions are usually required with long tube headers.

Mine has Kooks long tube headers and Kooks hi-flow cats.

If an emissions test isn't required they can turn off the rear O2's and it will run fine.
That's what had been done to my car by a previous owner.
Alabama doesn't require emission inspections, where I live in Missouri does.
