A few years back I bought a used Turbo Action 17676 valve body at the Nats for my 727. I finally will be getting around to installing it and was wondering, is there anything complicated about installing a valve body or anything I should be aware of? When I got it, all I got was the valve body itself. Looking at this particular valve body on the Summit website it shows a spring and two gaskets which I didn't get with it. What is the spring for and do I have to have it?

The two pan gaskets are one for the 727 and the other for the 904. You just need the one for your trans.

The spring is for the rear servo, it's stiffer than original and makes the rear band release quicker on the manual 1-2 upshift; not necessary but advisable. Billet rear servos with improved spring retainers are available from sellers here.

some shift kits tell a guy to remove that spring.
what is the reasoning for that if it makes the rear band release quicker ?

Different spring, the one they tell you to remove is the accumulator spring which makes absolutely no sense....an old myth keeps getting repeated.

Inserting a rod in the accumulator eliminates its function which is to cushion the 1-2 shift and the application of the rear clutch.
