im pretty close to pulling the trigger on getting an R5P7. I know there is a couple members on here that run them, and am hoping for a little guidance. I know there was some adapter plates to run a mopar transmission 727 or 904, does anyone know who this was or if they are still available? Or if Leon still makes the Reid case for the powerglides? Another question i have is did you stay with the dry sump or switch to wet? And any advantage that may have? Did you start with the Nascar headers and modify them or just make a set from scratch? Lastly, were you able to use the stock steering box or convert to a rack and pinion? I know someone may suggests checking out some facebook groups, but i dont have facebook. Thanks for any answers or advise.

Jesse Kloth from SDG Motorsports was looking at doing more adapter plates if you wanted to go down the Torqueflite route. I can't remember what Jesse's user name is on here, I think I have his email somewhere.

The kit Leon does is very good and headache free, for a GM based trans it would be the only way to go.

From memory, the Nascar headers don't fit particularly well in a door car, I think any of the cars I have seen have had custom headers.

I am still building my engine, so I can't comment how fitting it to the car, plus my steering is on the opposite side anyway.

Best of luck

My car has a stick so cant say about the auto adaptor.. It does have nascar headers the #6 and 8 tube needed to be slid more into the flange but that was the only modification. the collectors will run right into the torsion bar x member it could be modified or pipes could jump over it. I have a tube k member there is no way the stock box was fitting with the dry sump pump.

Thank you for this information. I found the email for SDG and sent him a message.

I am also interested in the kit Leon does, so if anyone has a way I could contact him it would be appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. Plan B is to do a stick, but seeing what info i can get on the auto adapter. Glad to hear the headers just needed a slight modification. I never thought about the stock box being in the way of the oil pump. Did you go with a rack and pinion then?

The gear box has to be removed there is no room for the oil pump the headers can be made to work most of the work is on the passenger side the tubes have to be cut and put back together to make work there to wide otherwise Jesse is making me a plate as we speak fir a mopar trans Leon’s kit is very nice if you want to go the GM route this will be my 2nd car I’m putting a R5 motor in the last car I used W2 headers and just changed the flanges
