Anyone have recent experience with A Body Heim end tie rods?

I see kits but I don’t want to drill the lower ball joint or centerlink.

They sell an “tie rod adapter stud” to go from tapered to stud. The taper is the same on B & E bodies. Same ES401 9/16” tie rods also (ES352/5 if 11/16” upgrade)

Mine are hotchkis. But the adapters are common Circle Track stuff.

Then you can shim the tie rod to change bump steer

You need to change at least the outer tie rod to a spherical rod end and run a taper to straight bolt conversion in the end of the steering arm; called a "tie rod adapter stud". Circle track supply places have those.

$12.99/ea

Bump steer shim kits extra off course

No problem

Also note in my car picture above is the 73-76 center link. The tie rod end of the centerlink has a vertical mounting axis.

The 72 and down a-body centerlinks have a horizontal tie rod mounting axis. That might not give you as much adjustment. IIRC it will still change bumpsteer.

Top one is 73-76 -needs corresponding years idler and pitman arm
Bottom is 67-72 -needs corresponding years idler and pitman arm
