These stories are both funny and heart breaking.
I lost yesterday in the quarter finals the old fashioned way, my reaction time was worse than his (footbrake).

That’s tight, Jim! I once had a .000 lose slip. I had to go to the tower for the.0000.

My math calc says it was 9 inches at the finish line. But with the MPH difference, I couldn't tell who crossed first. (Did I catch him? No, he got the win light).

2nd round of Race of Champions, car starts to miss about 1250'. I thought it blowing up so I let out and got beat by .00X something. Get back to the pits and one of the plug wires came loose from the distributor. The guy I lost to ended up winning the Racing of Champions race than so I guess it was his day....

Go .00X red and my opponent lazily goes down the track to the win. His shifter broke and he only had first gear... mad

I did about the same thing. Dialed 12:00 against a buddy dialed 10:20. I went .001 red, ran 12:002, and he broke.

This was quite a few years ago now but always sticks in my memory. After the qualifying sessions were done, I had drawn a good friend in the next day eliminations. Come the morning when he emerged from his motor home it was obvious he had been partying hard the night before, he was almost green and his eyes were like pi$$ holes in the snow. I remember thinking to myself I got this round in the bag. Getting ready in the staging lanes I noticed he had dialled the same as me, he is normally 4-5 tenths quicker, my guess was he was just going to keep a fender in front and hope for the best. Sure enough, come the race, he put a fender in front. So I slowed thinking I could mess his plans up. Anyway, the lead changed 4 times during the race and we both were over a second off our dial.
He beat me, managing to take the win by a narrow margin but ironically he had left late and handed me a .1 advantage on the tree.
Moral: Just run your own race grin

Just run your own race, THAT is bracket racing, you cut a light and run your dial nothing he can do. There’s no defense in bracket racing.

This past weekend. Semi's, Car run 5.557 earlier, sun had set, shade on the track, and I had a 5.56 on it through eliminations. I decide to bump it down .01 to the 5.55, thinking the 60 ft. will pick up slightly, putting me dead on a 55. I am .015 at the hit run it out the back door and don't get there. Run a 5.564....Opponent is dead on with a zero .019 bulb. Took .0098 stripe. If I left the 6 on it I would have been .019 pack and took .0002 and won.......

Nephew helping me in staging lanes before the run told me he thought it was going to run the .56 too... hammer He can dial the car the rest of the year lol.

Forgot to add earlier my #1 all time greatest way to LOSE a bracket race is dial an number you CAN'T run!!!

Always have a brake pedal to go slower! whistling

Though you lost a .029 pack will win a lot of rounds.

A guy shows up at Rock Falls and has one of those ramp doors that opens with one center handle. Door mechanism breaks and can't get the door open. Never even got a chance to loose.
