1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible

$45,000

Originally:
Yellow, Black Interior, Black top

Currently:
GB5 Blue, White interior, White top

I bought the car 17 years ago all apart as someone’s discarded project. Most of the back end, floor, and under hood bodywork had been done. I finished the car in my choice of paint color and interior to serve as a reliable and presentable driver quality car. The car retains the original engine and transmission. Many new and reproduction parts were used as well as rebuilt originals where I felt the reproductions at the time were lacking. Below are some details of what has been done. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Engine:
- Original 318 rebuilt, approximately 3000 miles on rebuild.
- Rebuilt heads with the same casting as the originals.
- New Rings, Bearings, Oil pump, Water pump, Fuel pump.
- Stock grind 71 340 Cam with new lifters.
- Factory correct 70 340 intake with correct number AVS carburetor (Original intake included).

Exhaust:
- Newer style 360 exhaust manifolds
- NOS Walker Head pipes
- Reproduction Resonators
- Walker mufflers with pipes welded to them, turn down style. At least one has a hole in it.

Suspension
- New upper and lower ball joints
- New upper and lower control arm bushings
- New tie rod ends
- New Rear springs and shackles
- New front and rear shocks

Transmission :
- Original 904, nothing done to by me except selector shaft seals, tail shaft seal, new dipstick tube and drain fluid.

Rear Axle:
- 7-1/4, believe to be original, nothing done by me except to check fluid level.
- New U-joints

Exterior:
- Base Clear 71 B5 blue hand rubbed to an almost glass finish. There are currently many imperfections due to moisture, etc. Popping under paint.
- New bumpers from Autobody Specialties.
- Original grille and bezels in very nice shape.
- Reproduction hood moulding.
- Convertible mouldings all in excellent shape except for right front pillar. I actually had it straightened but the fellow took the curve out of the moulding and the door rubbed it. I tried to put the curve back but kinked it.
- Beautiful correct grain vinyl top and rear curtain put on. Before having the top put on I put on new cylinders, new hoses, and new seals in the pump.
- Tail lights and bezels are originals in good driver shape.
- 14” Rallye wheels with decent centers and new trim rings
- 71 Style painted rallye mirrors.

Interior:
- New White PUI interior
- Door panels and rear panels are original black ones painted with Krylon plastic paint.
- Console is 71 style with ashtray and has crack next to shifter.
- New carpet
- (3) speaker 71-Up dash with single speaker AM/FM radio from a C-body
- New Seatbelts
- Black Legendary boot
- New Black visors.

Brakes:
- Manual 10” Drums
- New cylinders, shoes and hardware prior to me buying.
- New steel lines and hoses
- Rebuilt original style master cylinder
- System has DOT 5 silicone fluid.

Other:
- New reproduction gas tank and fuel lines
- New aftermarket radiator 22”

Below is the decode of the fender tag , I do not have a broadcast sheet

Up for sale, is my high school car I have kept since 1978 (42 YEARS). 1970 Challenger R/T, it came with a 1968-383 Magnum, 727 slapstick and a 3:91 when I bought it. It's a REAL R/T with 94K original miles, the original, factory EK2 (Go Mango) paint code, (repainted) white vinyl top and white interior. It has the original "956" radiator, dash, gauges, steering wheel, door panels and seats with new upholstery, seat buns and headliner. Original sheet metal except for the rear quarters, dutchman panel, trunk pan and extensions. Original fender tag along with TWO build sheets! I correctly converted it to a fresh, rebuilt 4-speed with the modern synchros, Centerforce clutch and a new 3:54 some years ago. There is approx. 2K/ miles on this drivetrain. I added a front disc brake conversion, PST front end components, Milodon hemi oil pan, Flowmaster Super 40's with 3" pipes to the rear, MP super stock springs with "C" body shocks, black hood stripe, 6-way seat, burnt orange carpeting and a original Mopar re-chromed luggage rack (no repo) and a painted to match trunk lid. I have the original painted trunk lid also, since you had to have a special lid to mount the luggage rack. The rear seat belts, jack, jack spring and the spare tire hold down are missing. I always preferred the "340" air cleaner over the dual snorkle set up for a cleaner engine bay "look" for anyone wondering why it's on there. With the factory color combo, this car is a magnet at every car show I have attended. It is simply, just a beautiful car. I can say after owning this car for 42 years, it runs & drives fantastic. $61,500/NEGOTIABLE. E-Mail: magnumforce440@comcast.net Located in NWI, 40 miles east of Chicago. 360 degree video available upon serious interest.

This car will be at MCACN in CHICAGO this NOVEMBER if it does not sell by then. Thanks!

Operation 1970 440-6 pac 4 speed Cuda;

EV2 Hemi Orange, black top and interior, bucket seats, console, power steering, power disc brakes, am/fm radio, 3:54 Dana rear axle, 15" rally wheels.
Original quarters and trunk floor, beautiful older restoration in excellent condition. Bottom of the car is painted. Non matching drivetrain. Well, they match... The engine and tranny do match... Each other... But not the car.. 😁 3" TTI exhaust, Los Angeles built car so there is no build sheet...

This is a very clean and solid car.. Went riding in it today and it is nice, tracks straight, shifts great and has getting-up-and-go..

Passing this on for a good friend..

$110k obo

1970 Dodge Challenger RT Convertible was 383 now has a nice 440. This is a real JS27 RT not a clone.

It's a very nice rust free car that was restored by the previous owner a long time ago but the body and paint still look very fresh. He painted it a custom blue/turquoise color. The underside and engine compartment look excellent as well. The bumpers and trim look like new. The seats appear to be the originals and are starting to show their age but are still very presentable. The dash pad is mint and the rear convertible panels are very nice. Someone installed speakers in the front door panels at some point. The car runs, drives, and sounds really good and everything works. It has after market front disc brakes, front sway bar, and power top. The original fender tag and dash tag are with the car and the cowl and radiator support match. I have not looked for a build sheet yet. I have photos from when it was restored showing the metal that was done etc.. that I can forward to serious buyers.

There is no radio installed but I have the original, the speedometer needle broke recently but I have an extra speedometer assembly that I will include. The driver's side window rattles a bit. Otherwise the car is very nice. I am open to offers and possibly a partial trade that would probably only work out if you were local. I like Mopar convertibles from 1968-1971 but may consider something else from that time frame.

Please contact me with any questions you may have. Asking $57k or BO

1970 Challenger shell. This is very solid car. It has been in my barn on a concrete floor for 25 years. No dash vin or title.
You will not find a more solid car. Needs Dutchman panel and other minor patch work. I am 60 miles southeast of Moparty in Bowling Green.
I can help load. 8k. Email moparmafia@yahoo.com
