They know you need gas for a Generator so One place wanted $25.00 a Gallon. One guy that did not have a gen waited in another line and was selling his spot for $100.00.
Gas was $3.00 to $25.00 a gallon And I had to bribe the guy at the $3.00 station They also had 4-5 spent 9mm cases on the ground there so I would assume there was a dispute at some point of time there before I got there thank God.
Only hope they do as the law says, as charging those prices is a crime

They could not sell the gas.

When a storm is coming I fill up all my vehicles prior to. Portable gas tanks is what they are. 60+ gallons on hand.

I have, three 15-gallon Metal Drums on hand as A RULE for an emergency with Sta-Bil and a hand pump and barrel wrench.
Then plastic 5 gallon VP Racing Fuel Jugs and 5-gallon lawn type cans.
Fill all of them at $3.00 a gallon plus Sta-Bil and see the cost.
BTW} I went and filled the 5-Gallons I had already used but still have the 45-gallons in the small drums. The Guy across from us Son In law works for the power company and says 3 weeks so 3 bucks and a bribe was ok. I saw 4-5 nickel 9mm spent cases 50 feet from the station while waiting in line.
I do have His and Hers gas cans

We had a big, for us, snow storm last Feb. 7" of snow, which is about a 5 year accumulation normally. Was without power for a week. I just drug out my gen and ran that till we got power back. Had to siphon gas out of the truck but it was there, fresh and did what I needed. Didn't try to run the whole house, just one room with a space heater and a fireplace. Wasn't worried about refrigerator or freezer, that part of the house was as cold as a fridge anyway. Used the grill and microwave, didn't power the electric stove.

Biggest problem we had was right after we got power back we lost water, water main breaks. So I was melting snow for flushing purposes. Several 5 gallon buckets on standby in the tub.

If it was summer time instead, I'd power the fridge and freezer and a couple fans. I do have a couple window units in storage I could drag out if I got too sweaty.

You do what you gotta do I guess.

Good luck.

I had some old window units I gave a guy for scrap and some other stuff. Told him the other ones were good and for backup storm use. He came back and stole them so no window units. I got a freezer with a half of cow, whole pig, case of chicken breast, and case of chicken thighs, say 10 pounds peeled shrimp, 15-20 pounds sausage, 8-10 pounds cold cuts, case french fries, case of chicken fingers.
and cut up onions and garlic so run the gen all day and into the night. when that night tank goes dry leave it off whatever hours that is. Wake up and change the oil if time or add oil then fill with gas and fire it back up.
Since Refrigerators and freezers only run on demand and are already hard frozen the cool nighttime of not running during that downtime was 100% fine. Could not tell at all. I asked one guy you have gas but how much oil you have he said the stuff that came with it was one bottle.
I am betting there will be many burnt-up units. already had a bad fire that took 4 or 5 buildings at an apartment complex by us. Running one inside the apartment. Another family of seven Carbon Monoxide poisoning at ER but lived. Another elsewhere died.
Been like that since Sunday cant fix stupid

huh, hadn't thought of that.
I have a lot of oil in general. Car weights. 0w-20, 5w-30 and 5w-20, but only a couple of qt's of straight 30w.

I suppose the 10w-30 would work in a pinch. even some left over 5w-40, as long as I paid attention to the oil level.

My old 1992 Generac 8HP Brigs says 30wt so had some for other lawn stuff and compressor. But the new BlackMax with Honda GX390 says to use 10-30 Synthetic. So bought 2 cases of 12 on sale from Sam's Club delivered.
Then only located one bottle of the old 30wt Napa Dino in my cabinet used it for the next Gen oil change. I had more of the 30wt Dino but did not take the time to find it. So used the 10-30 Mobile One synthetic. the 10-3 made it use oil. not sure if it was due to synthetic or weight being thinner at 10-30wt instead of 30wt

Great point about the oil, never thought of that. I need to pick up a case to have, just in case.

that is my understanding.
multi weight oil will burn a bit more than straight weight oils.
As I understand it, at op temp it acts like 30 weight.
but running up to temp it acts thinner, so it might blow by easier causing the extra burn.

My usage was 3 times as much 10-30syn Moblie1 compared to cheap Napa dino 30wt.
I know it is not a case study, all engines are diff and cons of use.

Price gouging during a natural disaster is a crime. I'd report those $25/gal greedy crooks. https://www.agjefflandry.com/Form/Consumer/Dispute

^^^^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^^^^^
Anything above $5 per gallon is gouging, and I'd report them ALL! I mean, even $5 seems high, but it's tough to get fuel there, so I'd expect prices to rise a little bit.
