i was looking up carbs with free shipping and i offered a guy $75 on his $150 with free shipping so i get 1 email with a invoice of $75 plus tax a 2nd email right after that with invoice $75 + tax and $30 shipping , soooooo do i just pay the 1st one with the voice in my saying he wont ship till he gets $30 So, what your saying is you offered him 1/2 his asking price and still expect free shipping? You offered, he counteroffered, the 2nd email was after he figured out you expected free shipping as well, and he clarified the situation. Were it me being the seller, the next price from me would be higher the the original posting. Either give him the $75 + tax + $30 for the shipping, or move on. Gene

Gene Years ago we had an account as,an eBay Power Sellers. It was my wife's job only job. She worked on an office tgat had a large, warehouse she listed stuff from. When she came home she had a list of stuff she stickered with numbers and took pics of. She would do another 20 to 40 hours from home with that info listing. If you would have sent 70 and tax no shipping her or I would have just returned the payment and blocked you as bidder. Nothing personal just how it was. Stating it since you may piss the seller off and not even get it for 100 plus tax if he make them mad. As sometimes not worth it to seller.

Ebay gets a LOT these days and a cut of the shipping money.
Shipping is costly these days and its a deal breaker on both sides for many on smaller items...... If you disputed it with me and didnt want to pay the shipping cost AFTER the lowball 1/2 offer id refund and tell ya to beat it. Sorry.

Yes, but didn't the seller have to ACCEPT the 75 offer KNOWING it's free shipping. If he had 2nd thoughts best would have been to just contact you before sending 2nd invoice. Then he's being upfront with you & you're not surprised by added cost.

Yea he probably realized he wasnt making dick, and its still not cool if thats the way it all went.
My point was, what can ya do? Ebay is not going to force anything. If its a good enough deal to get what $45 off of the whole deal vs the $75?
It does stink when ya get a turd seller but again what can ya do, not every seller is a great businessperson and so crap happens.
He put you in a pickle with no input from you.

Guy is asking 150 with free ($30) shipping
150 - 30 = 120 in his pocket
You offer 75 including ($30) shipping
75 - 30 = 45 in his pocket
You're basically offering him 1/3 of his price. Who's the dick here ?!?!? actually you forgot to figure the E Bay and paypal fees. so this is another 16%, rounded up, out of the sellers pocket. i currently have about 20 items listed on ebay. sold over $5K worth of parts in the last 60 days. i get lowball offers for my items daily. i just decline and move on. i won't even waste my time with a counter offer in those situations. no one said the seller had to accept the lowball offer. i didn't even know you could accept the offer and add the shipping costs. i have always been under the impression if the original listing stated free shipping the accepted lowball offer includes this also. my guess is the seller forgot about shipping and accepted the offer, realized his mistake and tried to sneak it in with a second invoice.

On Buy-It-Now you can set a minimum acceptable price and with an automatic rejection for offers below that amount. This saves a lot of time because you don't have to deal with low-ballers.

my guess is the seller forgot about shipping and accepted the offer, realized his mistake and tried to sneak it in with a second invoice. Agreed. I don't know if 'sneak' is the right term. The seller corrected his mistake. Had the seller been more on top of it and the second invoice been sent first, it would have simply been a counteroffer. Yes, the seller screwed up but last I looked it's not a hanging offense. If the buyer still wants it at the second invoice terms, go for it. If not.......

Bottom line is: ebay cannot FORCE a seller to complete a sale (ship), nor a buyer (to pay), after a listing ends with a sale. Of course there are the "strikes" that go along with reneging on a sale.
