Does the Gen3 Hemi power steering pump work with the old steering boxes?
Wondering what's involved to keep my old steering box.

Im certain the modern powersteeringpump puts out way to much preasure,im also certain someone on this board knows of some kind of regulator to make it work. Im interested in the same kind of info.

These video's may help. One approach is apparently using a Jeep Wrangler power steering pump as they have lower pressure.

Thx HH!

That's great info, looks like we can easily replace the pressure valve and use the original steering box.

I did check out Holley, beyond the $500 price, the "low" pressure still seems too high.
From what what I can find:
New Gen3 pumps ~1600psi
Holley "low" pressure ~ 1200psi
Old Mopar range ~700-1200psi
Toyota pressure valve ~750psi

I did the Mopar Action trick and added a couple of shims to my Saginaw pump valve and it definitely helped.
So I'm thinking I want to keep it in the ~800psi or lower range.

For what its worth, I run the stock hellcat PS pump with a Borgeson Steering box unit. No pressure reducing mods. Works great!!

When I called Mopar performance direct line they had zero clue what PSI those pumps were. At the time I decided to make my own GM type 2 pump adapter with the assistance of a fellow board member. Recently I swapped out my adapter for the off the shelf unit from Holley, and a Jones Racing pump with aluminum reservoir tank. Cheaper than Bouchillion's reduced PSI unit, no gawdy plastic tank to leak, and readily available GM parts so no Mopar tax.

Borgeson would definitely be smaller, but I'm having a hard time justifying the $1000 cost.
Plan is to stick with to stock box, if at all possible.
This Gen3 swap is looking like its going to cost $10-12k min, my car is only worth $20k frown

like anything - if you have a completely functional setup the cutover costs really add up. If you don't have a working setup and you're buying stuff either way, it's not so bad.
That's a reason I'm going 5.7 turbo in my Coronet now but stuck with the 383 architecture to do a small upgrade rather than have to rebuild the turbo setup on my Fury. Too much time and cost at the moment for a car that just needed a new shortblock.
