Hello All,

Looking to see if anyone has recently dealt with getting a torque converter for their 426 Hemi / auto mopar. I'm working on a '69 Dodge Charger 500 426 HEMI car. I'd like to deal with someone/firm that deals with this on a regular basis.... Haven't had to buy a Hemi torque converter in a LONG time.. I know there's the external balancing to consider..

Thanks..
Troy

iagree
None of the 426 hemi motors made by Mopar, street or race hemi, where external balanced tsk
Same on all the early Hemi motors in all brands of Mopars made before 1959 scope
OP, are you talking about some of Gen 3 late model hemiroid motors ? confused

Nothing special about Street Hemi verts other than big bolts on the flex plate, just a 11” like the 383-340 hypos got, maybe a little more stall. Still have my 68 Charger one

Hey Cab,,

So, I don't need to worry about balancing weights like what was on the 6bbl motors? I know 6bbls has weights on them........ So I just need to consider the larger lugs and what stall I want? If so, that makes things easier......

Were there any 440's with an 11" vert?
I thought all 440-s came with 12", even 3- 2s.

Troy,

I also went with a Turbo Action Hemi Torque converter (model #17501). This was pretty much a stock build 426 for my 68 Road Runner. I really like how it feels and would use it again.

Starting in '73 the 11" converter became available on select forged-crank 440's.... the same converter as the /6, 318 and 340.
