After a long search, and several fails involving sellers without titles in their name, I brought this one home. Was a frustrating ordeal this time, cars are just not available right now. Or some shady dealer has scooped them up and wants far too much. Or guys don’t know anything or are just playing coy. Or things are just plain junk. To get this fish in the boat with the market being this way is incredible. It’s better in person. And it just fell from the sky nearby where I live. All that hassle and the clouds suddenly parted this week.

Thanks to a few board members that have been steadfast in their help looking, and their time reviewing pics and thinking of questions. Now let’s enjoy some Y4 Spanish Gold!

Some of the cleanest door corners I’ve seen. The claim is CA, then it went to CO. Had to have been garaged all its life.

No idea why some of these are upside down or sideways. You can click on them and it lets you rotate.

Last ones for now. At it temporary home. My garage is jammed. This happened so fast I was caught off guard. Couldn’t let it slip away.

Thanks guys.

Confirmed today the redline radials have shipped. Have a few minor Knick knacks to knock out and this will be about as good as it gets. For the money anyway. 25 years now in the hobby and finally one of the deals I’ve only heard about happened for me.

Yes, yes it does.

Something that’s been discussed is the valve cover looks like a 70 setup. Then I saw an old vintage road test on YouTube. Has the same arrangement. Also an ac car. Did these get a different setup than non ac cars?

Here is a pic I snapped of that one.

drivers side valve cover is a C or A body cover. Note the extra plug wire looms

I cant see the pass side

PS, The more I look at it. the more I like it. And I think you did VERY well on the money side.
Now, get the AC working and drive that puppy

BUT, I was almost hoping you was going to pass on it and that car would have been on its way to southern AZ about now ( not me btw )

CONGRATULATIONS! Absolutely beautiful car! I so appreciate the survivors and rotisserie restorations but, unless I had that climate controlled dream warehouse to house them in, I dont think my heart could actually enjoy them.
Ive come to a point in my life that well earned patina doesnt bother me quite so much lol. Simple goal anymore is to keep them perfectly maintained and dependable drivers to enjoy with friends and family. That being said, you might find me at the next show just drooling over your car and others like it just in wonder how amazing some are preserved.

It's nice, your hard work pays off. The engine compartment is so clean, I love your selection of wheels and tires as well.

Tires all made it early. Was major concern as redlines are back ordered for months. Was given tracking for two, all four showed up! Also have pie tin coming, some service stuff, and car cover ordered. Even bigger news is garage clean out is going well.

Car is stashed about 1.5 hours away. Have to decide on hauling tires there or waiting for cooler weather to drive it home. The ones on it are so old and flat spotted. Thinking of a work day with a grease job and general checking while they get mounted. Just a messy deal as I have to drag the wheels someplace and back again. Not taking it by for Joe Shmoe to pull on a lift.

Thanks I’ll check them out. I’ve had good luck at ft Mitchell garage. They seem to get the old car thing.

Right now the car is in Frankfort. I found a place to call, Douglas Wheel Alignment and Tire. Seems to have an independent vibe that might play well with old cars. No idea though. If anybody knows of them please post it up. Thinking if I get the car anytime soon, I need to change the tires before I hit the road. Might be best to have a work day and grease it up while those are getting mounted. I can haul them someplace and do some going over the car while that happens.

All 4 redline radials are here, a pile of service stuff from rock auto made it, the Super Commando pie tin came in today, and the car cover has shipped. I need about one more day in my garage to get it cleaned out and organized from the move and then I’ll be ready.

There used to be a guy at Ft Mitchel garage drove an orange 65-66 mustang to work every day.

I used to work right down the street at Marshal Dodge. We dealt with the guys at FMG many many times over the years and never a problem

Antique Automotive in Hebron is good as well. But they are not cheap.

Terry Kesselring was the owner . But he passed away a few years back. I heard his brother took over after that. But dont know if the place is the same level quality or not .

BUT,,,,odds are it is.

Ron S was driving the orange vert in the parade. I’m not sure if it were his or another guy that I believe passed. They still have 80s dodge tow trucks.

Got the wheels back today. The new tires look a lot different than the old. Notice the shoulder look and also the red line is raised instead of being inset. The ads for the radials appear to me to be using a pic of the bias plys after seeing this.

I was told an interesting tale of how the tires came to be in the first place and litigation related to the cokers selling them. All kinds of stuff goes on behind the scenes in this world.

Not a bad looking tire.
I could live with the design.

Mine came from Diamondback tires. They area Milestar carcass. But have no name or lettering on the redline side at all. and the red stripe is raised as well.

Mine are 245-60-15 and they ride very nice . I have no complaints.

Did some wrenching and got the car home. It’s even better than I imagined. Could drive it harder today with the new rubber. Wow. And it has so much more to give once dialed in. Lots of very minor stuff to straighten out and it really will be just like a new 1969 car.

Oddity I found was it had a straight grease fitting on a lower ball joint. Went and got a 45 for that. Had to point out to the counter guy I needed SAE and not metric. Went to install it and the wrench wouldn’t go on. Ok, so they sized it up. Pulled out next one and it was too big. So new zerks are metric hex now???

Also put in new vr due to erratic behavior on the gauge. Grabbed an electronic one that has the mechanical case. Found they hadn’t sanded off firewall. Saved old one for spare and now gauge is steady going down road. I suspected this was all due to a bad ground, but wanted a new one on hand. It does quiver occasionally so need to clean bulkhead next.

Had people hanging out of cars while we were going down the road saying nice car. Got thumbs up at the lights. Plus got out at home just as the rain hit. All worked out well.

Been doing some work as I can. Got tstat changed. Old one was stuck open.

Working on getting rear seat belts in order. Somebody put what must be seam sealer in the holes. Belts are back ordered, Vans had new bolts. Found a yard that said they had the spacers and washers, but it’s rained so won’t get them pulled until end of week maybe. Really an odd little project and just highlights the struggles these days in just getting your hands on even run of the mill stuff.

People see it in the garage and keep commenting on it. It’s more of a draw than I expected.

Wipers are sorted out, now think it was a factory three speed car for sure. Found busted connector on the washer pump switch, should have that fixed early next week. Rear seat belts are almost done. Waiting on junkyard small parts to finish it out.

Resto battery is junk. Going to try and keep it alive for shows, have new odyssey on the way. Hope to get it out some next weekend and make a list for the winter. Radio and ac are at top. Need to do a brake tear down and find a weird come and go problem. Felt a strange skip and shake on a couple stops. Believe that’s related to the clunk that happens occasionally.

Other than that it’s wish list stuff, like resonators to kill drone, maybe electronic ignition of some sort. And drive. Just drive.

Had to step away for awhile. Got back to work and have continued to find all sorts of electrical gremlins. BIG THANKS to Devin Duke in OK and Tommy at Parts Hound LLC. Devin has been rebuilding switches like mad for me, while Tommy has sourced a resistor and a replacement connector I needed to replace a melted setup.

I get about an hour a week to work on the car. Have the taillights fixed, dash lights work with jumper and Devin is rebuilding the dimmer to finish that part out, radio now plays, wipers and washer work. Should get blower sorted out when parts from Tommy get here. Need to find the wire for the cigarette lighter to get that going too. Eventually I’ll get to the ac

It’s like somebody has been involved with this car that didn’t really understand how they work. One of first things I did was get the regulator a good ground. Brakes are way out of adjustment. A lot of small things like that have kept it from perfection.

Today was the one year mark. My drive today was far different than the first one. It’s in good working order now and still plenty of things to improve. I’ve met some really cool people on account of this car.

I had heard the car received an award.
My former Challenger and my current Satellite were in the that show back then . Never would have dreamed one would replace the other 15 years later

I bet that hour seems like 5 minutes! Glad you found a nice car and fair $$$ to boot! Enjoy!

Been inching forward. Found about half the ac o rings were the black ones, one disintegrated as I took it off, another line had no or o ring at all. Work done by a shop that converted it to 134. Hoping to get it charged soon at a mopar guys shop.

Radio is away for a rebuild. I have an NOS audiovox fm convertor to put in after the show in July. Also some gauges to keep better tabs in things. Want to keep the stock look for the show.

Have a laundry list of small things to get to before then. Engine is dialed in now. That’s been a plus over what I started with.

Huge strides in last week. Figured out the brakes. Radio is back and sounds as good as a new car, at least for clarity. Devin Duke worked his magic on it and it’s just plain awesome. The SM Electrotech made in USA speaker was a great move. We think it had the wrong ohm one in it. Just had enough time to get radio reinstalled and haven’t ohmed the old one yet. It looked like it went through nuclear winter so it needed to go no matter what.

Exhaust sounds a lot better with the remflex gasket in for the obliterated one that was on drivers side. Wow hard to believe I drove around like that.

Hoping to get ac recharged this week. Shop thinks I can be worked in. Hopefully.

Show is coming up fast. Went to a preview gathering and was told by only mopar owner there that there were ZERO mopes last year. Gonna change that in a big way in a few weeks.
