duster, what heads do you have ? i have a 440 on the stand as we speak, it has rpm heads and the mp cast covers. Been using TF 240s for the last 3 years. Before that I used 440 source stealth heads that are on my spare motor.

I had trouble with the blue Moroso gaskets splitting and leaking once they were tightened several times. I have Indy heads and valve covers.
The cometics are a harder rubber and have solved that problem.
Much better.

I have good luck with the FelPro Fel-Pro VS50145R gaskets. This has been my go to gasket since the 90's. If rocker clearance is needed I glue them together and use them doubled up for clearance. Still no leaks and reusable over and over if you don't over tighten them or try to torque them down full of oil. The surfaces need to be clean on the gasket and head so the gasket doesn't slide out of place.

Mr Gasket ultraseal works for me. Glue them to the cover with 3m trim adhesive(gorilla snot). Use nothing on head side.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I've tried many. Blue Moroso steel core.. rubber split around the core and leaked. This was on 906 iron heads. The superformance black cork/fiber work ok.. they deform easily after a few uses. Good ol' cork Felpros's seem to seal the best for me. Just be careful not to over tighten any of them and you'll be ahead of the curve.

it appears over tightening is more prevalent than one thinks. i use a nut driver. that seems to work the best for me no matter what cover/head combo is in use. your mileage will vary.

Mr Gasket ultraseal works for me. Glue them to the cover with 3m trim adhesive(gorilla snot). Use nothing on head side. With factory stamped steel valve covers, glue is the ticket. And don't over tighten. When new, tighten reasonably; then after a heat cycle do final tightening. I tend to use Felpro cork/rubber combo, and they work great. I think the ones on my street Cuda 440 are at least 7 years old... My current Daytona "tow truck" engine has factory valve covers and factory iron heads and they don't leak at all.

I use the Moroso steel cored gaskets. Eventually they split, most likely because they were over tightened and because I check the valves probably too frequently
