I got these axles many years ago, forgot what they go to. They're Mopar 4.5" bolt circle, 31 spline, 31 1/8" length from back of flange and are made for retaining clip. Anyone know if they're Dana 60 or 9 1/4" rear or whatever? Only number stamped in them is A1003. Thanx.

I don't know for positive but I think those are Ford axles... They used the 4.5 spacing and those are C clip axles and I don't know if Mopar ever had 31 spline axles but Ford did..

Again I'm no expert but I've done a lot of looking lately since I just broke an axle last week...

could be 9 1/4 as, i think 9 1/4 also had 31 spline axle count. the reason that i say that is cause i looked at trying to find a 31 spline ford unit to see if the axles from 9 1/4 would fit so i could narrow a 9 1/4 housing and use ford axles.

Both the Ford and 9 1/4" are 31-spline but the Ford has a 90° spline angle and, I believe, the Mopar is 60°....might also be a different diameter. shruggy

Does the 9 1/4 use C clips? Those look like C clip axles.... Never had a 9 1/4 so I have no clue there...

Yes, 9-1/4 axles use C-Clips to hold them in.

Don't Ford & Mopar have a different size center hole for the brake drums. If they do, anyone know the different measurements?

A quick online search came up with
Quote
Chrysler: 2-13/16"
Ford: 2-3/4" (for the ones with a center hole that almost fits on a Chrysler, but not quite)

For the folks who are fond of the French units, that translates to:

Chrysler: 71.4375 mm
Ford: 69.85 mm

from a few years of junkyard ownership [1872-1986] the ford axle register was 2.740-745 while the wheel center hole is 2.750 -2.765.
the chrysler hub register is 2.800-2.805, the wheel hole is 2.810-2.825.
i have measured these things countless times over the years, and these numbers are for bare, non rusted components. even surface rust will give different results, so measure carefully. rusty stuff will go together, but be a somewhat of a "beach" getting apart. kind of like beating on a tire/wheel assembly or a rear brake drum. we all know the drill for these. biggrin
hope this helps.
