Now, keep in mind, for as much as paid, I STILL paid half, almost 1/3 what I would have paid buying each part off ebay................... PAP now has this fee they charge for an extended warranty on ALL parts. It's not an option and if you balk about it, the woman in the window suddenly doesn't speak English. It's a friggin' DAKOTA, not some Hemi Ebody. The 'hobby' is being killed off ain't it? Considering inflation I don't think that's bad at all. It's the entry fee, warranty and charging SALES TAX on those items... FWIW, in 1998, I needed a power passenger side mirror for the Ramcharger, had to wait MONTHS for one to be built, 2003 cost? $300

The warranty fee is what annoyed me. Warranty on bolts? C'mon!
But what seems odd to me is that the environmental fee is so much less now. That's what they used to tack onto EACH part, now its an overall fee? Hmmmmm..
And, much to my surprise, there were no CORE charges which they were good about tacking onto almost everything.
I wanted to rant, but I knew how much the stuff was going for on ebay, so it is what it is.

That's nuts. I paid $100 for a pair of fenders and bumper trim from a pick and pull in Fort Worth last year. That same lots of parts would have cost me $30 locally.

Minivan mirrors fit on a Dakota? Or did you buy them for Flapper? I bought them for my Dakota. The bolt pattern is exactly the same, I just need to make a filler piece as the base of the van mirror isn't quite as big. I've never liked the big, chrome 'dumbo' mirrors my dakota has, and the smaller sport mirrors don't fold out of the way which the van mirrors do.

what were the bolts holding? The bed. I guess the last time the fuel pump was done, they lifted the bed, but didn't put all the bolts back (and I snapped one). Does seem stupid expensive, but, what can you do? As mentioned, ebay was two to three times higher. If you're not dealing with PAP and their fees, then you're dealing with an independent that thinks his junk is worth pure gold because of an auction he saw on TV. Several years ago, I priced a tailgate for my wagon from one of those classic car yards, and they wanted almost what I paid for the whole dang car for JUST a bare tailgate (no hardware, etc, just BARE). Sometime later, I would see this same wagon, with the tailgate still in place, crushed. I don't get it.

Not bad considering that O/D toggle usually lists for $45-$55 on eBay! IF/when they are listed. That's the early one. The later one is way more common.
My best score lately was this AM/FM from a recent parts-finding trip. $13 for a working pushbutton AM/FM stereo.

If you weren't in Canada, I'd send you another for no charge. I've got the same radio in my parts stash that I've had for 20+ yrs..........

Now, keep in mind, for as much as paid, I STILL paid half, almost 1/3 what I would have paid buying each part off ebay................... For whatever reason, that OD switch is the most expensive. On ebay currently, the cheapest one (used) is going for $85.00! PAP now has this fee they charge for an extended warranty on ALL parts. It's not an option and if you balk about it, the woman in the window suddenly doesn't speak English. It's a friggin' DAKOTA, not some Hemi Ebody. The 'hobby' is being killed off ain't it? I ran the numbers, that's 30% for the warranty. And then sales tax? I think I'd take that receipt to your State Tax Commissioner and see what he has to say about that.

I wonder if CA keeps that money, or if the vendor keeps it? I assume CA keeps it.

Note the last line....... because in 25 yrs I haven't learned the native tongue to this area, the cashier shuts me down and leaves it on. (which is why I said its NOT an option earlier)
