I'm getting ready to work on my 1963 Plymouth Fury, I'm thinking of changing the stock drum front brakes to disc brakes. Wilwood shows several different kits with 11.0 inch rotors and 4 piston calipers. My questions are have any of you that have use their 11.0 inch rotor kits (I'm looking at their part # 140-11020DR) is how do you like them, and how do they work in a car weighing around 3500 Lbs. with driver on the streets, no power assist?
If you were building this car for mainly street and a little strip use, BB Mopar making north of 550 HP with a 727 tranny what brake brand and kit would you use?
I'm not looking at racing it on a sports car or roundy round track, mainly street and some 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile drag strips occasionally
I'll probably use a set of 11x3.0 drums brakes on the rear that I already have also.

For street due use the factory 11.75 setup with 15 inch wheels. Doctor Diff has everything you need for the conversion. Don't use Wilwood brakes on a street car.

An 11" rotor kit might work, but will not have a lot of "reserve" braking., unless you have pie cutter front tires.
I would not choose anything less than 11.75", rotor width effects how many repeated stops you can make, more or less.


And the adage "brakes stop the wheels, tires stop the car" still applies.

We use the Pro-Street kit that has vented rotors (not drilled).

It's a bolt on deal for a drum spindle and works great.

I have over 7,000 street miles on mine so far and hundreds of dragstrip passes.

It brings us down from a max of 133 mph in the 1/4 mile with no issues. I've heard they have a really good replacement Polymatrix pad for these but haven't tried them yet.

I recently installed Strange brakes on a friends GTX and the kit was much nicer than Wilwood brakes I have installed before. I like the one piece rotors instead of the two piece ones.

were these rotors a specific Wilwood item, or are they an item used in another application ?

The Strange brake kits had the one piece rotors. The Wilwood kits I've installed were 2 piece that you needed to safety wire which to me is a pain.

Fortunately I live in the Air Capital (all kinds of aircraft companies) so it was as easy as having my neighbor do it on his lunch hour. He didn't even charge me.
