Billy Godbold has done a few of late with various webinars and podcasts. Some of it it talking about Comp stuff specifically, but there is some interesting info regardless

Far too many cam explanations leave out 2 factors (1 big, one small):
1. combustion chamber design (shape, volume, stem angle); wedge cam and hemi cam = chalk & cheese
2. rod ratio

If a hemi and wedge somehow ended up with identical flow numbers (hypothetically obviously), compression, displacement... how would you change cam specs based on the chamber and valve arrangement?

What change would you do to a cam if everything was identical but one had much shorter rod stroke ratio?

I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!

From what i have been told, you tighten the duration on the exhaust and widen the lobe sep out a bit. On my 572, i would think 112-114 lobe sep, but i'm not sure. Gonna leave that up to the professionals. The exhaust side works too well and you need to stop the fuel from going right on thru and out the pipe.

Are we betting on whether the answer to this question is ignored or deflected?

Go ask on speed-talk.com. There are a few very knowledgeable cam grinders, engine builders, and class racers who regularly get into cam debates.
I wish Harold was still around. He was the man. I think Vizard may have addressed some of this in his books.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
