Thanks. Great looking engine and car btw. Also I’ll have him call Dwayne if you think his cam may be better suited then the comp you spoke of. Yes, tell you engine builder to call Porter Racing Heads for a cam recommendation. If I was building your engine I wouldn't use the Comp grind that I used in the past since now I know that Porter can provide me with a custom cam that will work even better for roughly the same price. I didn't understand that 10 years ago when I first started to build 600 hp street engines.

I didn’t know this was a twofer so I’ll drop this here too.
Andy,
I thought you said the terminator efi was a lot better than the sniper for only a few hundred more?
I would call Dwayne porter and let him get the heads he says will work, the 240 or the 270, then let him work them a bit and check them over. Worth it to be sure before you use as a daily driver. Let him spec the cam.
I’d be going roller or at least not a solid for a street car you are talking about driving hundreds of miles a week.
The RPM is an excellent intake, sounds like a good idea to try it and economize and then later try another intake if you want.
I’d put the savings into a milodon 31580 road race pan. It’s a superb piece and will protect your investment.
Another option since you are in NC is to just call Todd Marsh at Marsh Performance. I used him for the bottom end of my 496 and Dwayne for the heads. Had local shop do the machine work.
Good luck.
I want my fair share

Now you got me looking at these dang sniper systems trying to figure out what all is needed haha. If you want some Sniper info you can check out these two articles: https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/super-sniper-efi-sees-powerful-improvements-data-logging/https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/holley-hyperspark-install-tune/I wrote these articles when the Sniper was brand new so there is a bunch more information available now. I've installed about 20 Snipers over the past few years. They solve a bunch of problems and add a bunch of capability to a street/strip type of engine but they aren't for everyone. You need a Windows laptop and you need to be comfortable with basic computer skills to really get the most out of a Sniper. The total investment is usually around $2000 which is roughly what a new carb, ignition, fuel pump, etc would cost. Just depends on which way a person wants to go.

I haven't priced it out for one of these engines, but considering port injection efi intakes are available why not go that route over the sniper?
(just cost difference?)

Tf 240 head will be fine , TF270 will be better and more power . In my motor was worth 0.25 of second or about 40-50hp . If you cant get a Super Victor max wedge you can port the standard port Super Victor to max wedge , i did that . Not sure if Victor will go max wedge Loss of torque ? You have a 4.25 stroke 511ci motor . Flat tappet is simple and durable , again thats what i run . I have pump gas 11:1 premium gas . Idles @ 925 in gear in traffic no worries , summer or winter . Dual quad ? Try a modman , wont choke it like eddy unit , and has enough meat to go max wedge . Run 2 x eddy 600s or 800 eddy AVS

Beautiful car. Not sure how big of a hole that was cut out in your hood for the scoop but the intakes you mentioned on using are taller so might have to do more modifications there.... Give Jesse at Biggs carburetor call to discuss your plans also
71 demon stock stroke 440/indy ez-1 running 10.10 @ 132.14 mph in the 1/4 and 6.36 @ 107.46 mph in the 1/8 not in the same weekend but It did it then I sold it. 67 Belvedere that worked it's way in the 10's

Contact our own Thumperdart. He is the go-to Holley platform guy. And then compare his prices to the EFI conversion cost. Retrofit EFI simply does not bring enough advantages to warrant the huge additional costs and labor over a well tuned carb like Thumperdart can get you.
And here's another vote for Dwayne Porter for the cam.
Master, again and still

Will running short pistons for the 4.25 with 7.1 rods make for wear and oil consumption issues on a daily driver?

Will running short pistons for the 4.25 with 7.1 rods make for wear and oil consumption issues on a daily driver? No issues here. I've got several (10 to 15) 440 pump gas motors with those parts in them with no complaints on oil consumption yet I ran a 4.300 stroke crank in my pump gas 400 stroker motor with 7.800 long BB Chevy type rods that had a VERY SHORT piston in it and it didn't use oil on the street or at the track Many interweb rumors have to basis for them, in my opinion

Will running short pistons for the 4.25 with 7.1 rods make for wear and oil consumption issues on a daily driver? To delve a little deeper on this,On an RB, the rod ratio is only 1.67 and side load is 361 psi. A stock 5.3 LS for example is 368 psi and 1.68 rod ratio.
