I know it needs 7 1/2 pints but what have you been using? The car sits an awful lot? Any
ideas?
Thanks

Azmopardart and LAR414 have it right. Pennzoil Synchromesh is good stuff. Recently, I drained the 90W gear lube out of my A833 and put in the Synchromesh and it definitely shifts better.

I've been looking for Pennzoil Synchromesh locally and nobody seems to stock it. I have access to BG synchro shift and it's GL4 rated. Anybody ever tried it?

There are many favorites out there but the one oil to avoid is any gear oil that is GL5 rated.

High pressure additives can eat the brass syncros. Most gl-5 contain sulphur, not good for brass.

Somebody correct me if I am understanding this wrong but the GL-5 has an extreme pressure additive package that works great to eliminate friction on high PSI contact like ring and pinion tooth contact. Problem is it also does the same thing when the the points on the inside of the brass rings try to grip the cone of the gears when shifting. You want that brass to lock onto that taper quick and stop that gear as soon as possible.

I asked the same question when the time came to fill my trans in the Charger, and got the same response, so I went to my local Napa and asked for the Pennzoil synchromesh fluid. They didn't have it, but they had the Amsoil stuff and it said on the bottle that it meets all the same specs as the GM and Chrysler fluids, so I gave it a try and I'm very happy with the way it shifts. The only "problem" is that there is so little oil drag on the gears that the clutch disc doesn't stop spinning when I push the pedal, so I got into the habit of shifting into first and then quickly into reverse before backing out of my garage. Shifting directly into reverse resulted in gear clash noise.
