Has anyone used one of these big block oil pans?
One is just 1" deeper than the other (7 qts vs 9 qts).
The description says, "These pans have a full-length windage tray and double trap doors to provide a positive oil control system."
And for up to 4.750" stroke.

Opinions?
I am looking at oil pans for my Daytona (chassis car) and new 572 CID B1 engine. (4.5" stroke).

I run the 9 qt. one (with 7qts.).....took the tray out and replaced it with a screen and mazzolini crank scraper. 9.0's and no oil pressure fluctuations on data recorder.

I have put one on my aluminum rod 493 and dual line swivel pickup. Have not run it yet. I was kind of skeptical looking at the tray in it,regarding drainback capabilities. Called Milodon tech line and they said it was capable as built and didn't recommend any modifications. I guess I will find out. Hope they are right. I am going to start out using their recommended capacity. Bill

Anyone have a picture of what it looks like under the "windage tray"?
Does it actually have trap doors for oil control? Or is that just boiler plate from the catalog on Milodon oil pans in general?

I have heard good things about screen type windage trays.

I think it has 3 trap doors. I modified mine for a big single pickup. No oil issues on my data log.

I had to cut, grind, and weld on mine. But I have an oiling setup that's been good to me so I use it in everything. The big square single pickup . Single external line.

Good to hear.
IMO, for my application, I think a single AN-12 external line with a static pick-up at the back of a pan with that slant toward the back should be good.
A trap door or two for deceleration to work with the slant back sounds like a workable solution.

Jim, here are pictures below the tray. It has 2 separate swinging trap doors. This is a 31151, it's a spare that I have. I have the 31161 on my car currently with a dual line swinging pick up.

I run the 31151 with dual lines. My only issue is a small leak at the lines that I can’t seem to get to fully seal.

Wade, thanks for the inside pics. up
I like that design. The bolt-in windage tray doesn't look like anything special, but the side deflector is a good thought, IMO

I used the Moroso dragster pan with a single #20 AN line on one of my dyno engines. Also used an external belt driven oil pump/vacuum pump combo. Not sure if that would fit in your car or not but it was a nice setup. The belt driven oil pump has some advantages over a gear driven pump.
