A single 2" filter that covers both is better but should be even taller and larger diameter. Yes, VS have air blown across the entry = bad.

Pics are all from my phone. Sorry for the sideways pics, but you get the idea. I have not tested these at the track yet, but was suppose to be at the track today testing, rained out again. I understand velocity slacks work better than no velocity stack on a stationary motor like on an engine dyno, but not the best going down track. I see a lot of guys running nothing on top of their t ram carbs at the track. I will be testing this to see for myself sometime this summer maybe fall now. I have also bought a cowl hood scoop to try. Its 4.5" tall and puts the top of the v stacks just poking thru threw top. This i'm told gets it out of the turbulance. The screen tops have options, you can get them with 4,3, 2 or 1 screen for filtering. I opted for the single, because i want it to breath as good as possible. The filters are a goss filter and do produce a bit richer running condition i see on the wideband, but not bad. So, they are a bit more restrictive than the single screen in my opinion. can't wait to test.

Could be, those engineers were sharp. I have been told that can happen with stacks and drilling a small hole at the base of the stack alleviates that. Have not tried that yet. I have been down the freeway at 110+ and never had any fuel on the windshield yet, but i do run short stacks. Tall stacks may be a big issue with that.

I am going to use a sprint car air filter when I get that far. RC2 will supply it with a base for 2x4150 carbs.

The screen stops small birds from entering, but reduces flow by a significant amount.

Anything over the top reduces flow, but the screens are the best you can do for filtering and not limiting the least flow impediment. This will all be tested at the track. I bet they aren't as good as the filters. If you add up all those wires in the screen it takes up a good majority of the opening. I am not carbed but I run two throttle bodies on top of a tunnel ram. I usually run it with no filters but running the small K&N filters don't seem to bother it one bit.

Engine dyno testing a 440 stroker bracket motor with a Eddy tunnel ram with two 750 Holey mounted side ways with and with out velocity stacks with 9x3 air cleaner elements on top made more HP and torque than with the stacks and no air cleaners, years ago The dyno operator said it would loose power with them before that pull but the owner wanted to run them on the car so he didn't need a hood scoop, it made more horse power and torque and made the AFR slightly better Same thing at the 1/4 mile races wit the air cleaners on the velocity stacks versus slower without them

Here’s a couple things available. Aeroflow black 9” filters and velocity stacks with screen filter from velocity stacks for hot rods. Where did you get those screens? I looked at Aeroflows web page, not seeing them there. I'm going to run their TB's but they dont work with the standard air filter & wanted something to keep the rocks out.

I built this from a round K&N. It ran about the same as the triangle Eddy Pro flow. Both better tan open carbs. Doug

I like the looks of that. Both carbs draw from the same large area. I may do something like that in the future. Makes me wonder, think there would be any improvement with putting short velocity stacks between carbs and filter?
