Looks more like a casting flaw than an actual crack.

I wasn’t going to post anything, but eh...... I’ll throw in my .02.....
“If it were me”, and replacement heads were a long wait away......... and I was ready to use the heads pretty soon...... I’d contact TF, send them a few pics of the casting flaw and get their take on it.
I can’t tell from the pic exactly where on the head that coolant hole is, but it may not be in a critical/problem area.
Seems like I read thru the paperwork that comes with the heads that the castings have a pretty good warranty on them.
If I felt the flaw was in a non-critical area(need more pics), and they’ll stand behind the integrity of the head.......... and I’m ready to use it now, and a replacement isn’t coming soon........ if those conditions all exist........ I’d use it.
As for “quality” parts that arrive in other than perfect condition, there’s a thread running here now about a new Callie’s RB block that arrived missing some head bolt holes....... but did have a few other holes it wasn’t supposed to.
That’s a part that’s over 2x the cost of a pair of TF heads.

That is unfortunate that it's gotten through their quality control, It happens from time to time. Quite frankly, depending on where it is exactly, you probably could have fitted it and never had an issue. At least you didn't have the engine together and discover a fatal flaw. A friend discovered the AFR heads he had on a customers BBC, the rocker stand pads were 0.060" different to one another. He was doing final assembly at the time.
Hopefully they get another head to you in a timely fashion.
The Trickflow stuff is pretty good generally, I've seen a few BBM and BBF heads/intakes, they've been finished nicely.

That’s a part that’s over 2x the cost of a pair of TF heads. I somewhat agree with you about running them "as is" based off what TF would have to say about the location and other details. I am waiting for other parts to complete the engine anyway, so that was my primary factor in sending the head back. I also sent back the harland sharp rockers as one of the rocker arms has tooling marks or some other marring..under the anodizing...could be nothing, but why risk it at this point ...I'm not a real big risk taker plus I have some time on my side... Summit stated end of July for the new parts to ship out...
