I was there once a long time ago, and all they had on the lot were bondo buckets. with any car your buying i would drive there and inspect it in person.

They're right up the road. Inspect everything with a magnet, as there are lots of talented sculptors out there.

Was this the place that would buy vehicles, then title them in Tennessee and bring the paperwork back to Michigan and claim it was a "Southern" car void of rust?

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

Stay away run fast they are a scam out fit. A friend sold them a 1968 Dodge 500 convertible he turned into an R/T. He is meticulous and builds nice stuff. I ran into the guy Southern sold this car to at a show. Southern told him it was a real numbers matching R/T. The vin and fender tags said it was a 500. Poor guy paid big money for a nice clone R/T.

I’ve never heard anything good about used car dealers that sell muscle cars.

Most of their cars are nice 50-footers. Get up close, very few are nice cars. I live about 10 miles from there. If you see something you like, I can check it out for you - I've done it for others.

Thanks for input, I am always suspect of these dealers. I think I'm going to wait till I can cross the border and have a look at it myself.

My buddy lives a couple of miles from there. Stopped in once to look at the cars. Yea....no. I will pass. The 'perfume' and 'hog' scent was just too much for me.

Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

As others have said - buyer beware. I was very interested in a '66 Belvedere II they had for sale a few years ago. Sunroofcuda looked at it for me and saved me from buying a car with a lot of hidden issues. A year later, I ended up finding my '67 Belvedere II and it's a much nicer car.

'67 is an abbreviation of 1967
67' is an abbreviation of 67 feet
They are not interchangeable.

I am surprised most of those places last, all ones I've seen pop up just turn into regular used car lots. Profit is profit, who wants to scour the country for inventory?

I could write a book about a '70 cuda they sold a friend years ago. They said the motor was "period correct", turned out to be a mid 70's 360... car had a bunch of issues, the 1/4 glass trim was on backwards, there were holes in the fenders were the WOM's should have been, no rocker trim, a painted over dent were the bumper touched the left fender. the blower motor was dead and he asked them to put a blower motor in the car. Yeah, they put a blower motor in the car... there was a small box on the front seat when the car was delivered. shruggy

After hauling a couple cars to a friend in Michigan who then sold them to Southern Motors and seeing how fast they sold after that, it seems like it's almost a guarantee that they just went on information that was given to them. They couldn't have looked them over beyond washing them and putting the perfume on.

The owner of that place, used to run a local Michigan Mopar car club...he ran the club about as well as he ran that dealership....in other words... fan down

Some used car lot flipper guy did something like that here to a 1968 440 trim model Coronet that was bought at a local auction here. Like in no time at all it resurfaced on Ebay with fresh red paint job and Superbee decals all over it listed as a real 68 Superbee. I went back to the original auction website and got the vin # and compared it to the Ebay "Superbee" and the numbers were the same so some buyer got taken advantage of.

Man I'm glad I backed off. Its the same over here, I looked at a 66 corvette, here, seller claims NCRS status, he sent pics of all tags, when I decoded them, the vin is for a convertible and clearly this is a coupe, I think he took the car in on trade and didn't do his homework, have not heard back from him. This is a case where they didn't do a very good job to hide, it was too easy, goes to show a lot of people probably just accept what is being told to them

In a best case scenario, it's a used car dealership where the staff doesn't know what they're looking at.
And it's downhill from there depending on the store and/or staff.
Often, they only rely on the consignor, who may be as crooked as hell, or trying to unload a pile without facing buyers, or merely ignorant.
Some consigners may be honest, but just don't want to deal with a parade of clowns or low-ballers.
If a store is creating a false car, I would think some laws would apply; at least where a VIN denotes the model.
The appeal for some buyers is probably financing, if they don't know how to handle that themselves.
Bottom line: you have to know what you're looking at, and inspect it yourself, or hire someone for that.

That reminds me of a co-signer shop we used to have around here. I never saw a car misrepresented and the cars looked okay but this was well over 10 years ago. They would try to sell a Coronet for 45k when a Bee was going for 27k. Now you know the owner of the Coronet couldn't have been so dense to think that price would work and every car was like that. 25k over even ebay prices. Within a year the dealer was closed.

a friend of mine just sold his 55 chevy through one of those consignment dealers.
i casually know the car because i dinked with some minor wiring issue under the dash a few years back.
it is a pretty nice car over all, and runs and drives great because it is a big block/6 speed car.
anyway, he showed me the check he got from the dealer............115k ! eek
the car is nice, but not THAT nice ! i wonder what the dealer sold it for ?
well, like the saying goes : "there is an a$$ for every seat".......... biggrin
