Looking for anyone who has thoughts, opinions, or experience with a 32 or 33 Ford glass hot rod body from these guys. I have seen several Wescott, Downs, and some other manufacturers but just curious on the quality from Russ Nomore.

Right, and I agree to a point but I have also seen a fair amount of "steel" cars with a good amount of Bondo that look like hell. But at least the owner can pound their chest in a display of superiority that theirs is "steel".

New fiberglass ha to be easier to deal with then rotted steel, but if both are a mess, its a big project to straighten any of them out.

In my price range, rotted out steel is all I get a chance to deal with, and a 32 Ford isn't even close to being in the game. If I was in that end of the game, I'd want to see how the glass body price and quality compares to a new Brookville steel body, I believe they are on the top of the heap for repo 32 Ford bodies.

Brookville is definitely the top out there in steel but the last figure I saw is 25K for just the bare entry level shell and 6 to 9 months out for delivery. I have a glass budget and dont expect it to be on the same level as a steel car. The nicest glass I have personally seen are Downs and Wescott. Either one will net you about .47 on the dollar that was initially invested when its time to unload it.

many, many [and many more] moons ago, my buddy and i were at the auto auction looking at a car. the make and model, plus the year escapes me.
anyway, while looking at this car, an old guy sticks his head between us and wispers : "CARS WITH BONDO AREN'T SAFE !"
my buddy looks at me, and i at him, with the expression of WHAAAAT ? and just that quick, the old guy was GONE !
we looked for that guy the rest of the day, and never saw him. as the auction was not that large, it would have been almost impossible to NOT spot him if he was there !
for many auctions we attended over the months after, we never seen anyone even remotely resembling that guy !
all these years later, we talk of that event, and just wonder..........

Body filler gets a bad rap it doesn't deserve.

The filler company has no control over the guys using their product. When its used for its intended purpose, to smooth out minor dents and metal imperfections, there is nothing wrong with using it.

The problem is when someone uses it to sculpt a body to look like its suppose to look when there is no structural metal under it.

I am a retired welder by trade. I'm not ashamed to admit there is body filler in everything I build. None of that filler is covering dead air space, all of it has solid metal under the filler. To claim that all cars with Bondo (auto body filler) are unsafe is simply not true. In the old days, the places filler would now be properly used would have been filled with lead. Plastic filler is safer and much easier to use for the purpose of correcting minor defects in auto body then lead is. Where the lead was used, the lead was the filler. Plastic filler has replaced lead filler.

Contrary to popular belief, there are not many vehicles ever built that were really completely metal finished to perfection. Most people couldn't afford the cost of true metal finish without any kind of filler. Many places sure like to prime and block sand a car to perfection and claim its all metal finished, but in those cases, the primer is the filler. Gene
