The Coupe doesn’t have suicide doors.

Secret weapon? I’m not scared. I’m hoping the new clutch program picks the car up at least a tenth.

At the very least, my first pass of the year will secure yet another dinner out of you. Going faster yet will be icing on the cake.

At the very end of the night last night, I stepped on the clutch pedal, and the hydraulic throwout bearing popped open and fluid ran out the bellhousing. Not too hard to fix, but just more time. And I'm teetering on the precipice of not having enuff time to beat Jeff out of a dinner, and be ready for the Midwest Drags. I got out there early before work today and pulled the trans so assess the damage. One of the orings was torn and hanging out. Hopefully a new O-ring and reassembly will cure it. I also need to figure out how to keep it from happening again.

As we have discussed, as time goes on, we'll have many dinners together. It's just a matter of who will have to pay the tab. I'm at a stand still. You have time, and don't worry about it.

I really detest aftermarket t/out bearings. Have yet to see one that did not have some strange issue eventually.

What bellhousing is in that thing Joel? Hopefully it will be a quick r&r for you. I'd grab a couple of spare o-rings for the tool box too.

Jerimiah, its a QUicktime bell. The TO bearing worked fine with the long style Mcleod Soft Lok. But now I put in a diaphram style Mclead RTX. I went thru the measure/calculate thing to determine the # of rings behind it. I'll have to double check that. Or could the diaphragm be too soft or have more travel of the fingers?

In my experience the finger height on the long style plate is way taller than a diaphragm style. How much difference was it between the two?

Jeremiah they were about the same height, but the long clutch was a single desk, the diaphragm is a dual disk. When I get home from work I'm going to double check the measurements.

I've left two messages for American powertrain, that's who made the throw out bearing. They haven't called me back yet. I had so much trouble with them when I originally bought the stuff, I would never buy anything from them again.

Jeff is getting nervous that he might have to skip a house payment after I order shrimp and lobster, with a filet mignon on the side. Finally got the Hemi Coupe mostly back together, Sunday I fire it up. My shop looks like a tornado went thru...

After all of that no verdict on the technical stuff? : D

Glad you have it back together and ready to run. I'd imagine that thing is pretty tight to work on with the monster tko?

While Joel still has the dreaded 5% left to finish his Coupe, the Road Runner is ready to go.

Yes, the dreaded 5% has reared its ugly head. whiney

I made up just the right length spacer to go between the TO bearing and the Transmission, put it together, got it running. But the clutch won't disengage cleanly enuff to put it in gear. So the trans needs to come back out and get that figured out. Also I messes up the threads for the fuel inlet in one of the carbs, it leaks a little so I need to fix that. But the motor seams to have no issues.

Joel and I had a discussion on the phone today, and we might have a solution to the clutch issue. If it works, we will fill everyone in on the fix. It could very well cost me a dinner, but at the end of the day, Joel is a good friend, and I want to see his car succeed.
