Saleskid (I swear he was 13) at the local Dodge dealer (who proved his ignorance in other ways) told me that the Durango is going away after this year. I couldn't find confirmation online, indicating to me that there WILL BE a 2022. I hope to be in the market at the end of summer. What I'm looking for may have to be ordered so waiting for the end of the year bargains may not be a good idea.

Basically, our requirements are:
SXT Plus
Preferred Option group (heated seats, only on the SXT Plus and above)
Trailer tow package
NOT White or that ugly gray

Pretty much anything else added or any other color would be acceptable, but trying to keep the cost down as low as possible (yeah, it's still gonna be $39k or more sticker).

Just not ready to buy yet...

He was trying to push you into buying a 2021.

A quick Google search didn't find anything about the Durango being cancelled after 2021.

The only thing I have seen is the HellCat Durango is only for 2021 because emission standards change and won't allow such a beast in 2022.

They’re a favorite among gang bangers to steal and use for crimes before wrecking them and scampering off to steal another.
Dodge needs to keep building them so motorists can buy replacements for their stolen rides!

My Grandaughter just bought one. SXT, fully loaded. There were two 2022s on the lot. Now, they are calling here everyday asking if she would want to trade it for a 2022 Charger. I’m on the email chain so I politely told the sales person no.

I would strongly encourage you to get a hemi, not much more cost to upgrade but they seem to go for about 2 or 3 times as much at auction a few years down the road so much higher resale value as well as more fun to drive and the MPG is barely worse in the real world than a V6. You may spend a couple hundred more in fuel over say 5 years but the re-sale value will easily be thousands more (and easier).

The Hemi was a $3,795 option in 2015 in the Durango, $3,000 in the 300. I think it's gone up to $4,000 now? Highway mileage is really good @ 22 ~ 23 MPG. Wife (avoids hwys at nearly any cost) driving in town is almost painful, ~ 12 - 14 MPG.

The v6 don't do much better in those.

I buy and sell a lot of used cars and I see a bigger difference than that when buying and selling them, not to mention the V8 always sells faster even at the higher price point.

That's interesting. We got ours in October 2016 as a leftover 2015, I think it'd been on the lot for a year? Always figured it was leftover because of the sticker shock of the Hemi. shruggy Sticker was $52,000, they'd advertised it @ $42,000, when I called he knocked off another $1,000. That was the end of price negotiations. After that it was like the sound of a bearing race driven home, there's just no more room.

I can't speak for new cars or why one particular car did or did not sell but I mostly deal with newer chrysler products and almost universally any vehicle (charger, challenger, 300, aspen, duarango, jeep, 1/2 ton...)with the hemi option (except 2500 and 3500 pickups) the hemi sells for several thousand more and will not sit around near as long as a 6 cylinder. Even near the end of life when they have 350,000 miles and the car or truck is beat to crap a good running hemi truck will bring $5000-$6000and a car can still quickly bring $3000 when I can't give a 6 cylinder away of either, and it is not just my experience, I see V6 vehicles (where the hemi was optional) sit forever on craigslist or facebook when the hemi version gets snatched up a lot faster. It is a good engine but even better marketing.

Nope - its just a vehicle where the amount of people that want one is limited, so they only built so many of them. Too many and it'll be $100,000 lot rot dealers get stuck with

I think they are more popular than they thought, they are making another run of them from what I understand.

If I had the money one would be in our garage, we have an 18 R/T and love it.

Our 18 R/T gets 13-14mpg on my wife's low speed short commute, our Journey got 15 or so on the same commute. We did a 650 mile trip two weeks ago and it averaged 21 for the trip, could probably do 23-24 or so if someone besides me was driving.

I want the fuel mileage of the V6. We only tow a couple times a year these days and the 6,200 lb limit is fine. We're also pushing the budget by looking at a $40k vehicle as it is. To get the hemi you have to go up the option chain which adds more than just the cost of the motor. As for resale, I will be near 62 when we buy. At the rate we drive it should hit 100,000 miles some time deep into my 70s. I have no worries about resale. The current Durango gets 11 mpg in town and 17 on the road. Not only is it paid for, it has been paid for by the insurance company (totaled and fixed by me with a parts Durango that we made money on).My wife drives it around town and probably sees 4,000 miles a year now that we have a new 40+ mpg car, but it now has 173,000 miles on it. The plan is to give it to my son as a weekend beater when his wife has their Odyssey out and about. He doesn't need the gift, but I'm not going to get enough for it to worry about it.

Used just doesn't seem to make sense these days as used cars are just too close in price to new for long term ownership and wanting some sort of warranty.

FWIW, here's the real world data from my two 300's in my sig and the wife's Durango. The two 300's are as close to identically equipped as possible for the different years, both fully loaded cars, save the engine, V6 vs V8. Hope it helps a bit.

The "best mileage" means more to me. Those figures push me even more to the V6. I want high teens in town. I also want the 26+ on the highway. My Elantra is rated at 43 on the highway. We routinely get 45+. I know it's not the same thing, but the type of trips we take and the use of cruise control help. Mileage SUCKED on the way back from the coast last Sunday. NOBODY would keep a steady speed in front of me. Mileage "dropped" to 40 after we got 47 on the way over.

Will do. It was our anniversary weekend and really weren't there very long. One of my absolute favorite places on the planet is Montana de Oro Park. Had some great times there in high school and several times since then over the years. We'll be in Avila next April, I believe. Here's a pic from Montana de Oro from around 1976...I'm the guy standing at the top of the dune.
