I found a great source for fixing stripped threads. They are inserts made by a company called Timesert . The kit cost around 50.00 and came with 5 inserts, if you need more then that, you can order them at the same time. The kit comes with the proper size drill, countersink, tap and insert tool. It was the only fix that I found for small thread sizes (I needed 10/32). It took me about 15 minutes to replace 8 threaded holes. They also have kits for stripped out oil plugs. Check them out if you have some stripped holes that you need to fix. I think they are a better answer then heli-coils.

Looks like they should work fine.

The worked like magic for replacing stripped threads in a Carter carb. Beats having to replace the carb body for sure.

These work real well. As a matter of fact, the use of Timeserts is the only GM approved method for repairing the failed headbolt threads in the aluminum Northstar blocks.

Timesert inserts are also standard practice for stripped spark plug holes in Ford modular engines.

its a solid bushing with a lip to prevent it from screwing into the hole with the bolt

A helicoil is merely a 'special wire' wound in the shape of threads. To be as basicly as possible.

Keenserts..
The toughest I've ever used. I repaired pulled threads on a D-9 dozer final drive hsg. The original threaded holes held the ripper on, and were pulled out...
Keenserts fixed the problem, and the ripper stayed put.
