Dad started working for Ryan Motors in april of 65. Ryan Motors was chrysler and plymouth. It later became Billion Motors. He stopped wrenching about 6 years ago when he hit the 50 year mark and took his tool box home. The last 6 years he has been handling the new car inventory when they are delivered. Anything from the ordinary dodge, jeep or chrysler vehicles to the fun HP versions. He did the inspections and logged the paperwork so when they were prepped for the lot that stuff was all done. He had the choice the beginning of April that the 30th would be his last day. He has not had to work finacially but just enjoyed it. To think the vehicles he has had his hands on and been behind the wheel is pretty eye opening. Here is the story the local tv station did on him.

Awesome.

I bet the cars he has worked with were amazing.

Tell him it's OK to retire but not to grow old. up

Thanks guys! We got to spend a few minutes with the dealership owner and having him who is work gosh who knows what make the statement that he can look around the dealership and knows that there was things that dad did for training and certifications for the dealership that he was at the front of getting things done. That he can stop and wonder if he would have the type of business or the business itself if it had not been for the work dad put in all those years ago. Makes a son pretty darn proud hearing that!

In some ways, I’m sure the time went by quickly for him. He’s a dying breed - not many young people will have lengthy careers at one location these days. It’s nice to have the stability and a place you can call home. Best wishes to him👍

Good for him. Thoughts on a name and address that we can send cards to? He might enjoy that.

Congrats to him. I retired after 34 years on the same job, nothing like his 56. Now he can do what he wants, when he wants. I hope he enjoys it.
