I putting Strange rear brakes on a friends 67 GTX and the caliper brackets are configured so they mount in front of the axle. I have seen pictures of them mounted on either side of the axle and rear mounted seems to be most popular. The way the nutserts are installed in the brackets I can't safely bolt the calipers on the rear. Is there any downside to mounting the calipers forward shruggy
Thanks

Most important thing is to have the bleeders point up so you can bleed all of the air out. That is about the only issue with caliper mounting other than the obvious issue of interference with something.

Many books cover caliper mounting. A front mounted caliper will cause the body to dive under braking. When the body dives its reducing pressure on the contact patch. A rear mounted caliper causes the body to lift, increasing pressure on the contact patch. You want rear mounted calipers if at all possible.

Mounting position has zero effect on the chassis reaction.
