hi,
ordering new dana S60, should I have spring saddles welded on 90* from cover or add 1-2 degrees for pinion angle? looking for 5* nose down when done. hate to use pinion shims, or wait until car together

I'd check with Dr Diff, this is what he told me when I set up my Dana.
Stock pinion angle is 2-3 degrees down.

Theoretically, if you level the perches (44” on center) when the pinion is pointing upward 8 degrees, the rearend will bolt in the car with a stock pinion angle.

Best bet is to install it in the car, mock up ride height/weight/etc, then tack the perches where you want them, remove, finish weld, you'll be glad you did...

Agreed,

Order some spring perches from Calvert Racing as opposed to using the stock style ones. If you run cal tracs there is extra load on them and they can roll over or collapse. If you have enough power for a Dana a set of those wouldn't be a bad idea cal tracs or not.

iagree X3. I did mine as already mentioned, mocked everything up, set the pinion angle and tacked the perches, removed the rear end and fully welded. I used a heavy duty spring perch but did box the back side with a piece of 1/4" plate.

Remember on the mock up, tack one side only. Remove rear then make both mounts level. If springs are identical maybe but SS springs are NOT the same angle and will make one perch a different degree. Same angle puts preload on the SS spring (how they work)
