Any ideas , 1995 Dodge Ram, starter all disconnected, 2 bolts and electrical, it will not budge at all, tried tapping with a hammer(a lot of tapping) still has not moved, any pro mechanic ideas as how to get it unstuck so I can put a new starter in, this is the original starter and never been unbolted, Thanks for any help, Dave

Can you move the flywheel? Perhaps it is just jammed.

Just be CERTAIN that the 2 starter bolts are loosened, and not one of the trans bolts by mistake. THIS. I have dealt with some very rusty ones and they all came off without a lot of struggle--unless I had the wrong bolt on top undone. D'Oh.

I bought a 72 Coronet once that was a parts car, 318/727 with a factory trailer towing package. The starter had become one with the trans bell. Removed the bolts and broke the starter apart beating it with an 8lbs sledge hammer! Never did get it to separate, and yes, the starter bolts were out. The motor & trans were sitting on the ground while I was beating the starter with the sledge hammer. I really wanted that small block 727!
The car was about 10 years old and only had about 60,000 miles on it, it had been wrecked. I bought it as a package deal along with the 66 Coronet wagon the 72 had replaced. The 66 only had 120,000 miles on it, I dove it off and on for 3-4 years. The people bought both cars new to pull their camping trailer. Gene
