First, I like and enjoy HR.

This current month, one of the feature resto mod cars is a nice looking high dollar modernized blue Nova. Its a 3000+lb street car, with no real aero upgrades or wheel well improvements..

The fact they upgraded to an aftermarket inboard brake IRS means to me, this is NOT a drag car.

It has the typical high HP LS motor, has an aftermarket front frame suspension, 18" wheels, and this is where it starts to IMO, gets funky, 14" front aftermarket disc brakes.

And the clincher, 225/18 front tires on 7" rims. Rears are not much wider.

The final combination of front brakes and tires makes zero sense to me. There is no 225 tire in the world that requires 14" brakes. realcrazy

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Then don’t buy the car.

You missed the main point, don't buy 14" brakes or the car, I don't care.

The large diameter wheels with a 11" disc rotor look really strange.

And if the age old adage "form follows function" still has merit, so does a 14" rotor on a 225 front tire.

For historical reference: "One episode in the history of the inherent conflict between functional design and the demands of the marketplace took place in 1935, after the introduction of the streamlined Chrysler Airflow, when the American auto industry temporarily halted attempts to introduce optimal aerodynamic forms into mass manufacture." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Form_follows_function

The automotive world is full of people that have to have the latest buzz word on their ride, regardless of it's applicability.

High horsepower engines, massive brakes, hi tech tires, rack and pinion steering, modern suspensions, etc. All for drivers with so little talent that they cannot even leave a car show without taking out anything and everything in their path.
