If I recall, you put shifter in Neutral, place an alignment pin through the shifter body and adjust the rods accordingly (trans levers in neutral). Then the hard stops, once your are able to actuate the gears. What issues are you having?

I have rods adjusted not sure what the t handle to engage first should be. Sometimes it doesn't seem to engage first. Just wondering if anyone knows the procedure for T handle.

The T handle rod has a threaded bottom end with a locknut on it. I've never had to adjust it but I imagine that's where you would do any adjustment.

I've had one of those in my RR. In my opinion its a PITA shifter. "race only" as far as I'm concerned. Not only is downshifting a PITA, but if its in a street car its a real nuisance getting into first at any stop. Drive any significant distance in stop-and-go traffic and in a half hour you'll have blisters on your fingers from pulling that T handle up!

Those are three different shifters, the ram Rod and Verti Gate are similar, the Lightening rods was completely different, 4 shift sticks like the Lenco shifter had scope

The Ram Rod is the best inline shifter out there for OE style gear boxes. I’m not sure how anyone can’t figure out how to downshift one. I’ve got countless miles on the street with one. And I now have one for this car.

this thread brings back alot of memories and realizations of how wild and crazy I was back in the late 80's and early 90's. I had a 68 GTX 440 4speed car that I bought in 1986 when I got out of the service. The car was absolutely wicked fast.I put a Hurst inline shifter in it for about 4 years. I absolutely loved it. So much I took it out and cut 4 inches out of both the main handle and the thin rod for up and down. I could power shift it and never use the clutch. I ended up putting an air shock on the right rear so the car would go straight launching it.
Mine had the alignment tool to center everything. Enjoy your 4 speed. Birdtracker

No one in this thread said it, but I’ve heard it so many times I can’t count them all. Crap like you can’t downshift from third to second with an inline shifter and other assorted nonsense.

I should have clarified that after I typed it. Another one I’ve heard is it takes two hands to get it in reverse. I never found that to be true. Who knows what these guys are doing...maybe they aren’t adjusted correctly, or with a Ram Rod they don’t have the correct spring for reverse. I’ve never had to use two hands.

Ran both of those on the street and strip loved them both. Even used the old 3sp shifter with a separate reverse lever.

I have an order in for a Long inline 4 speed shifter for my Duster. They are G-Force transmission, pretty well made piece. Have run a Hurst inline for years. Wanted a modern version of the shifter.
