This fuel pump is killing me. Changed the seals twice, and it leaks out the weep hole and dumps the tank. Seal looked directional, so I flipped it, same issue......Last year it all started when the last day of racing, and it locked up in the stage lanes of round one....dumped the fuel tank in the lanes on hot pavement....Bearings were torched....Replaced everything and always the same issue..

Get rid of it. We had one of those fuel pumps in the dyno room and it was a constant maintenance issue. Replaced with a new Holley EFI pump and the problems went away.

Could always send it back to Magnfuel t be rebuilt. They have done a coupe for me and never an issue or much cost involved. One went through a fire in the Cuda the other came with the stratus when I bought it. Both were perfect after that

My 275 did the same thing, it locked up at about 300' on a 1/8 mile pass. I completely rebuilt it and 6 months later it was leaking again. It now resides on the shelf and I reinstalled the billet black Holley pump. Its been fine for two years. All the internals in the magnafuel pump are made in china, there'll never be another one on any of my cars.

I just bought and installed the Magnafuel 300 pump late last year. While driving a couple days ago, i noticed it seemed louder than i remembered last year. After the 30 minute drive and once back home, I felt the pump. It was very hot, hot to the point it was uncomfortable to keep my hand on it. I called Magnafuel and asked if that was normal for the pump to be that hot. They told me to check it with a temp gun and it should not be over 140* and 130*-140* is normal. Also, not to run for more than 1.5 hours at a time without shutting it off. I don't like that as i street drive alot and this is looking like a very unreliable pump. When it breaks, i will be replacing with something different.

Never understood why people spend such huge dollars on those things specifically, and huge overkill on fuel systems in general.
I got talked into( via peer pressure) taking a perfect working dead headed Holley black off a hard leaving legit 650 horse 9 sec street strip car, and put an expensive return style system/ much bigger pump on the car.
It didn't run a thousandth of a second better than it ran for years with the black. I am sure the black would have supported even more power, as long as it gets good steady voltage

Ok...So lets say I want to replace it, what else fits like it does? Had a feeling I needed a new pump. Was going to order a Magnafuel 300. An A1000 is my favorite, but I would have to replumb the whole car...

This is the Holley pump I have. https://www.holley.com/products/fue...bureted_electric_fuel_pumps/parts/12-150

I ran it a couple years on my 408 then replaced it with the magnafuel, very happy I didn't sell it. I've been 6.25 @ 110 with it and driven a bunch on the street. Heck I went 6.57 with a old Holley blue pump and a 3/8" line bent like the factory line, still have it too.

One thing that confuses me.....Magnefuel 275gph rated for 750hp max, the 300 is rated at like 850hp and the Holley is 125gph and rated to 900hp...

Those ratings are completely worthless. You need the volume graphs from the vendor if you really want to calculate anything.

My Magnafuel gave me one hiccup in the six years I had it, performed flawlessly other than that. What filter do you have before the pump? Are the flange surfaces warped?

It has a built in filter right before the pump....I really do not want to buy another pump, and if I did, I want to go back to an A1000, but that means missing opening day, and re-plumbing the whole car.

Keep wondering when I’m going to be faced with fuel pump issues... my Holley volumax under the car still has overspray on it from when the car was painted in the early 90s.

I think Don hit the nail on the head, is seems we overthink the fuel system a lot of times.

I don't think I am over thinking it. I think I do not want to buy another Magnefuel based on the feedback here and have exactly the same failure in a year or two. I didn't realize so many others were having the same issue. Plus, I rebuilt it, and I seem to be missing somthing because its still leaking. And I will tell you what, having the pump fail is one thing, having fuel all over a hot car and pavement is another. It dumps the tank every time this happens.

So finding a suitable alternative is kinda my thinking at this point in the game, but I am not totally sure. When you look at flow numbers and rated HP and nothing makes sense when comparing manufacturers. What flow do I need to make sure 850hp is just fine? I know an A1000 will cover that, and at 4amps less current draw.....Its the only other BIG pump I have experience with. And it was so good, I sold my spare I had for almost 10 years. That style pump, just does not lend it self well to installing it in my Duster and its not just the price of the pump anymore.
So I will call Magnefuel today and see if they can save my butt....Or maybe we try an A2000 pump....Not sure at this point. This sucks and I am almost out of time.

I agree. I was just on their site looking myself. If the Weldon is reliable enough for an airplane, i trust it on my street/strip car.

We have Weldon stuff on all the racecars now. Nice when you can run the fuel pressure low and not see a drop or bobble in the pressure anywhere. My car and my sons dragster are both over 3g's at the hit and pressure doesn't move at all.
