Brief combo

4 inch stroke, mild eddy heads, 11:1. comp xs282s cam, 3500 vert, 4:56 gear 3400 pound A body.

Will be driven hard on street and a few 1/8s at the track just for kicks.

Ive a new old TM5 and a new Victor 340.

TM5 vs Victor 340 Which one and why?

TIA.

Use the Victor. Plant a flower in the TM5. TM5 is almost 50 years old. There are better choices. The Rpm might be better than the Victor for your combo.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

3500 vert would probably use an air gap.
If the convertor was an 8 inch more suited to the track and making best ET, the victor.
Good middle of the road choice, Weiand Excellerator, which was how i went

Thanks for all the input. Its in a 318 block a .040 over for a 392 and I had all the parts other then the machine work and balance. Ive noticed parts the last few months have gone up and some dried up and ive always wondered about a small bore/light bob weight build. So why not do it now. Looks like I will use the victor and I think my 3500 on the vert might be a little low of a prediction but it looks like this cam might be done under 6500 or so.

I considered the air gap and if this was a driver but it will get flogged like everything else, and I have the victor here but as much as I want to tell myself the air gap isnt a good intake the facts tell me in wrong.

Well, because that's what the OP has for one, a 4" arm. It's gonna make torque and doesn't need the help of the air gap down low that some are suggesting. JMO for added clarity.

I have a victor on a 360 and it works just fine with a good convertor. We tested an AG against the victor on my 360. The AG was better to about 3800, then the victor took over IIRC.

Whats the scoop on the Edl air gap vs the speed master vs the deep motor air gaps?

Id not mind having one around for testing but the 209$ DM version looks good???

So is there a world of difference in the above?

I can tell you first hand the Speedmaster master intake sucks. I did a big post about it on Abodiesonly only and took it to the point I have a hole that needs welded. They X cross over in the middle of the front and rear is unfixable for any bigger amount of horsepower. I wish they would have copied the lD340 if the were going to copy an intake. Thank God I bought it during their 40% off sale and only have 130.00 in it.
