The Cal-tracs are a system and work best when you use all their components.
I tried them with SS springs and the car porpoised badly.
I ended up using the split mono's with the Cal-tracs and the Rancho/Calvert 9 position shocks.
With this setup it runs mid 1.50 60 ft.'s n/a and best of 1.36 with a 250 nitrous shot. All this is in a 3,700 lbs. car using only 275 ET Street Pro's.
I did recently upgrade to a Double Adustable Viking Crusader rear shock. I really need fronts for better control (currently 3 position adjustable CE shocks) and will upgrade them this Fall but so far the rears are working really well with the n/a tune. I would recommend a good double adjustable shock on all 4 corners at your power level.

I also tried them with 002-003 springs. 635 hp,5900 flash, 4.56, 3100 lbs.I needed a really tight 50/50 valving or else the rear end would pound the floor pan. Travis told me to run a stock type spring, so you should be good, but the stick and the weight will require a good shock. You might consider mapping out the anti-squat (neutral) line, and playing with ride heights. At least that’s my opinion.

i run Caltracs with Mopar XHD springs , have done for over 10 years and various power upgrades . From footbrake to transbrake leaving @4500 and currently back to foot brake . I would like to try split monos , weight reduction and probably stiffer . BUT i am concerned how they will hold up to daily driver , probably ok , and when i go racing i have rear race wheels , 29.5x10.5R15 PBR , trolley jack , 20L fuel , spare tyre and assorted tools etc in the boot , not sure .

How well would these work with stock springs on my ‘74 Cuda? I am currently going to run drag radials 295/65/15 and it’s a 4-speed car. I also don’t know what shocks to run. Front or rear. It’s going to be mostly street and some strip. The engine is a 511 that made 743hp/700tq. Rear is a Dana 4.10. I know the 4-speed is the weak link but I’ll see how it will hold up with no power shifting and going as easy as I can. The budget is getting tighter which is why I am asking how well this will work for now. It will work fine as long as you don't use more than half throttle.

Radials & a stick shift is a no no I know it isn’t ideal. Radials didn’t even work well with my last small block. The radials are mostly for the street. I plan to run a 29.5 bias when funds allow. I’ll go ahead and order the mono-leafs. I just figured some have tried them with stock leafs and could tell me how it would or wouldn’t work. AndyF lol.

You will find folks that have got them to work with most any spring.
However IMO most folks the best results the quickest with the Calvert spring they recommend for your car.

Cal Tracs were develop for NHRA stock class racing back when you had to have stock springs in your race car, I use to race against John Calvert in stock in division 7, he has ran a 1968 428 Cobra Jet motor in his 4 speed fast back Mustang long before racing in NHRA. He has raced the same car in NHRA SS also with his bars and stock springs long ago also so stock spring can be made to work fine Are there better springs available today, you betcha As far as stick shifts and radials I don't think I would do that now Buy another set of rims and bias 4 speed drag tires and go win some races
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I’m trying to get my car ready for the function for junction cruise. I’ll be at Woodburn tomorrow spectating. 👍

Tex I got my -1" ride height Caltrac Split Mono's in 2000, I got bored waiting for them to "settle" so in 2016 I welded on some 1" lowering pads . I don't think you will have a problem
