In the pdf snoopy posted, what is the 'silencer package' part # 3420 039? What we laymen refer to as the a/c?

Look at the section regarding the Idle System starting on p.4, Outboard Carburetor Throttle Rod adjustment and Idle Speed Adjustment (Curb Idle) p.16

In the parts book it is listed as a valve tappet (lifter).

Who knows what prompted some tech writer to name it a silencer. It was probably a mistake that was overlooked by a proof reader that was only interested in spelling, not accuracy.

I think I have figured out the problem.
The first item under tappets is a Silencer package, when they continued the tappets to the next page someone must have keyed off the first item and carried it over to the second page without thinking.
