I enjoy TIG welding, but I'm lucky enough to have a coworker that is WAY better then I am at it, willing to weld them up for me. A man has to know his limitations.

They look great. If the National Geographic photographer is doing the finish welding, will he be back purging?

Yes they are being back purged. Leigh, do you know a coworker of mine?

Doing a single 2.5" -> 3" per side for the turbos on my Fury was bad enough, can't imagine fitting those in there.

Not in the 'did it wrong' category, but from curiosity and my own battle with the T bars, did you first try to avoid trapping them or is there no way with that size pipe?

Beautiful work, Jeff. Now to complete the journey and without worry of damage, build yourself some header/pan "savers" under each side of the car. Simple to do, and you will thank yourself later bud. Here's what Team Z sells, but you can make your own to fit how you like. Unless of course you already have a set installed.

I could have made them like TTi Headers, but didn't see any reason to do so. Since these pictures were taken, I cut the tube going around the torsion bar, and welded in a V band clamp. makes it super easy to install. I can install the headers with the engine in place. On the driver side, I'll be putting in a t lest 2 V band clamps. One for the header going around the torsion bar, and another to remove a tube, to easily change a starter if I have to.

Wes, my K member is shaped just like what you posted. The headers actually don't hang down as much as my old Hooker Headers.

Supersonic indeed!

Now for the questions?

What car is they on ( 69 Gtx or 68 runner ) and why SO BIG?

If an exhaust valve is approx. 1.81 diameter in a good wedge motor then 2.00 ‘OD’ pipe should be plenty?

Would this design work my 71 Gtx (512, 440-1) and how much for another set ( please ) lol...

Maybe 1-7/8 od is ok too in most cases, or am I missing something???

563 CID and 440-1 CNC 345 heads, I don't know the specifics of the build but that foundation can easily make well over 800 horse. Regardless of the valve size his headers are not too big.
As far as 1-7/8" headers, I don't think I'd run them on anything more than a warmed 383

These fit my 68 Road Runner,

As for building a set for someone else, I just can't do it. One is time, and the other is I have a coworker do the final welding. Not that I couldn't do it, but I don't want that pressure.

Shouldn't take too long.

haha.....They do look nice tho, but i have a question did you you tack them with mig and then have them tig them up? I can't imagine how hard it would be to fab your own headers. I thought of building a set of turbo headers once tho.

I tacked them with a TIG. Sometimes in the car, and most time's I'd mark the piece, and lay it out on a table, and tack it, retest fit everything.

Already seen a few times on the phone, but looks even better on a larger computer screen.

Not many will attempt this. Hats off to ya.

Thanks everyone. I'm almost finished with the headers. The passenger side is 100% complete, and I just need to weld in my EGT bungs, and add a couple V band clamps to the drivers side header, and they are complete. I'm more than happy with how they turned out. Even if they do not make 1hp over my 2" Hookers, I'll still be happy, as they fit, and will not rust.
