I swore up and down that I would not build my own set of headers, but somehow members here talked me into it... These are the headers for my 563ci INDY block build with 440-1 345CNC heads. I could have just bought a set of TTi headers, and called it a day, but I wanted a set in Stainless steel, as I hope these are the last set of headers I'll ever need. I started out buying flanges from Brian Smith. I did a Google search one day for flanges, and a old Moparts post showed Brains flanges, and I knew that is what I was looking for. Tubing came from Stainless Headers here in Minnesota. Primary tubes are 2-1/8" stepped up to 2-1/4" and go into a 4" collector. I started out on the passenger side, as I thought it would be the easiest, and it was. I used my 2" Hooker 5209 headers as a template, and dug into the project. Overall I have about 50-60 hours on this project.

More pictures. Squeezing a 2-1/4" tube in between the frame rail and torsion bar wasn't easy, but can be done.

Great Job! Building them is DEFINITELY not for everyone but very satisfying once you're done.

Very nice!!! I can't imagine how aggravating it is to build a set like that.

Those turned out really nice!

Should we start a pool to bet on how long before one of the resident geniuses comes along to tell you what all you did incorrectly?

Really nice job. I can't imagine building a set of headers for a torsion bar/stock k-frame application. My hat is off to you sir.I built a set for my tube chassis car ,with tons more room and fewer obstacles and I know I am never building another set! Header builders EARN their money. Bill

Nice work, the att to detail on your whole build is quality. I can understand, my w8 2-2 1/8 to 4 on my a body with all the factory stuff still there is no daunting task just like your deal. I created some new words doing mine. So I can completely understand. Now the tig welding, I'm not sure about you but that's my fav part. Good job on them.....

I enjoy TIG welding, but I'm lucky enough to have a coworker that is WAY better then I am at it, willing to weld them up for me. A man has to know his limitations.

Thanks Chip. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. I treat it like a hobby, if I got frustrated, I shut off the lights, and walked away for the day. Only messed up a couple times, but was able to salvage the wrong cuts, and had very little scrap left over.

I hear ya! Makes a huge difference when you're not in a hurry/bind to get something done. I'm gonna help a close friend build a set of headers for his car soon, but it's a tube chassis car so it'll be a whole lot easier than yours was!

They look great. If the National Geographic photographer is doing the finish welding, will he be back purging?
