So, there was no Mopar equivalent of the El Camino or Ranchero back in the day. If there was, what body would they have used?

I'm thinking the Coronet would have looked good...

Not totally true.

Even better is the Ute I bought from Oz Hemi, wish he was still here... frown Wish I still had it, sold it two years ago.

What no love for the Rampage?

I would love something like this today. Lots of stuff can be done with a small truck this size. I have no need for an 8,000 lb gas hog rated load rated to haul a lawnmower when this would do.

I need to find and post the only picture I have of my '59 Plymouth Savoy that had been customized into an "El Camino"- type pickup. It was actually pretty cool, and I used it as a truck for light hauling for several years. Then I drove it backwards at high speed through a private dump when the brakes failed. Then I sold it. And then Captain Mopar stole the grille, bumper, trim, etc off of it. Then it resurfaced 15+ years later and was still in my name!

I've had the idea in my head for a while that you could use a 63'-66' Valiant/Dart wagon as a base which is probably what the factory did to make the Ute down under. You'd cut out everything from behind the B pillar and voila, Valiant Ute. I don't like the way the "cab" was treated for those though, seems like an afterthought so my other idea was to find/use the curved rear section of an A100 truck cab and somehow graft it on behind the pillar. An A100 is an "A" body after all.

There is a local guy here in Houston who converted a 66 Charger into a "ute", not my thing but looks like it could have been factory. Will see if I can find some pictures.

I've had a couple two tree Rampages in my time, and a nice 83 Scamp that I sold to a guy in Japan! The first one I bought was in 1987 shoulda kept that one, black 4-speed with A/C...

Joey, the guy with the conversion passed away several weeks ago and his son has his cars up for sale.

Hudson did it in the 40's but Dodge had theirs starting in 57.
