Passenger car solid rear axles went the way of the carburetor right around the same time front-wheel drive and fuel injection became popular. By the 1990s, solid rears were basically reserved for trucks and not much else. Independent rear suspension became prevalent in rear-wheel drive car applications like modern Challengers and, for daily drivers, offers a fine mix of performance, stability, and ride quality.

Since Mopar made exactly one RWD car during 90's and that was a halo car, it's not saying much. There were plenty of other makers performance solid axle RWD cars into the 2000's. Mustangs come to mind.
