Finally....the Detroit Police auction will have something good to bid on!

I am not rich...but I get off my ass everyday to make sure I am not broke!

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

It’s been a long long time since I headed out to the street racing scene. Really I think the cars are dangerously fast today and almost too easy to get your hands on. There were times when the cops would actually spectate. Might be worth attending an auction.
I love cheif Craig’s Made in Detroit hoodie!

in the less egregious cases, they resist seizing vehicles with liens, since the payoff and hassle is not worth it, just saying, for those who might seek extra protection of their ride.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

How about leased cars? Customs doesn't seize ocean liners even when smugglers are coming across on them, likely for similar reasons.

The people they are targeting in Detroit don't care about leases and liens. Most likely the cars are bought cash with whatever money they have on hand. (Avoiding saying the wrong thing) whistling

You would think the police could find something better to do than spend $400 an hour on a helicopter to give someone a ticket for doing donuts in a parking lot.

If these Clowns want to wreck their car for a little bit of instagram fame, pfft, let 'em.

It's gone a little past donuts in parking lots. This happened just a few miles from my house. Nobody arrested or even charged as far as I know. This is a 4 lane interstate they shut down. There are at least 3 hospitals that use that stretch of interstate for ambulances because they are near the interstate.

It would be worth the $400 an hour to arrest these idiots.

They avoid trying to confiscate leased vehicles, for same reasons i mentioned, but they will still impound and separate the car from the violator/driver.

I think the real point here is do they care about the car they own, likely hopped up, and are street racing with. Most car owners I know do care. Getting a bonafide lien on a car you own is rather easy, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. 1964.

Had my 57 Corvette impounded for drag racing and reckless driving. Three days later, my lawyer got a judge to release it back to me on the grounds that there had been no hearing, and I hadn't been found guilty of anything. This was the same lawyer that went to court for me several times, each time saying that reckless driving has seven separate sections, and that no one section had been specified. After about three months, lawyer calls me in and says if I will plead to speeding 40 in a 30, the whole thing will be dropped. Done and done. Laws have likely been changed in the 50+ years, but a good lawyer can sometimes work wonders.

Hell .., they were CRUSHING some vehicles back in the mid and late 90s !

.... and they made the unlucky apimp who got nailed WATCH as that happened!!

Chief Craig is a cool guy so I’ve been told. It’s just some of these participants are PURELY RECKLESS in their behaviors .. and the cops are forced into doing this

This is gold right here. Detroit is still a dangerous place, but the current leadership really does instill a lot of hope for the city.

In these parts they impound them all. Lien holders can pay all the fees to retrieve the car,but must sign papers they will NOT give the car back to the borrower.

Good for Detroit. If you want to race or drive fast go to the track.

It is here as,well.
Stupid at it's best.
Even Jethro Bodine was smarter. And the news almost always states Drag Racing.

Nephew worked at a used car lot on Gratiot. I asked how "locals" could afford to buy the cars or even get loans. He said "its all drug money sales".

And what a STUPID waste of time like stated above. My 29yo LEO son in law used to work in Detroit. It was basically WHACK-A-MOLE. I could tell that seeing the worst the city had to offer every single day was making him withdrawn and, ugh, just tough to describe. He got a job policing our neighborhood. $80k/year and gets to protect the neighborhood he lives in. Get to stop by his parents house for dinner. Escorts the kids of families he knows to school. How cool is that. And a MUCH brighter attitude and outlook. I think police should have to LIVE in the city they police like it used to be in Detroit.
