As you may or may not have guessed by my name, I have a 71 GTX, and a 69 Charger 500.

So what’s my problem, it’s Nick!
Been watching his vids for years with great delight.
Then outta the blue he gets the same two cars in that I have.

A nice 71 Gtx with a rattly 512ci stroker engine.
And a 69 500 that needs a full resto, SPOOKY...

I feel he is haunting me ‘all of a sudden’...
My Gtx engine is a very rattly 512 and my 69-500 needs a full resto too... shruggy

Good thing is, I don’t like black or yellow cars... catfight

Mine are both Green, limelight Gtx And F8 Charger.

Many thanx the replies Guys,

Sorry I didn’t get to finish the thread, so here goes.

The nightmare part is after a twenty plus years resto on the Gtx, the 512ci engine went bad.
I was advised at the time that stroker motors are more trouble than they are worth!
Time has proved this, even using low comp dish pistons...

Now watching the disassembly of the C500 at Nick’s and the thousands of parts, my nightmare begins again!

Do I want to start another twenty year project?
A pensioner needs plenty to keep himself busy in his old age.
Not sure I have twenty years left on the Earth, but hey ho..

The more worrying part is the COST...

How much would a grade one resto cost in current times???
Would a measly UK pension cover the cost of this humongous project... shruggy drinking

I haven't had any more trouble out of my strokers than I have out of my stock stroke builds. I have an Ohio Crank 499" that I have beat the heck out of for 12 years or so now. Both on the street and on the track. It has ran a best of 6.85@103 in a primarily street car, so it makes some steam. I have a 540 Hemi in the Cuda now and had a 505 Hemi in the Dart. All have been very good to me although I haven't really returned the favor, because I have beat on them.

IMHO, the key is the quality of the parts and attention to detail, not the cubic inch.

Master, again and still

iagree

I agree, the engine it's self doesn't know it's a stroker and if you having problems with it the problem lies with parts the machine work or the actual assembly process. twocents

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol
