Anyone use the Summit Racing line of refinishing products or have opinions on them? Or should I just stick with some local paint distributors? Being shocked at paint prices, the Summit stuff looks like it might be a bit more reasonable alternative.

FWIW, I'm not interested in OEM or restoration colors.

I have used their low voc (thats the only one they would ship to Pa.) 2 part high build... I like it. I did it for the same reason, ppg even the omni line is pricey.

I use Evercoatfilers and primer Slicksand I like it the best. After all is said and done I shoot on PPG DP90 used as a,SEALER.
A,SEALER. So is 3 parts as weaker or 2 as a primer
One primer ome hardener. And then one part good grade paint quality slow LAQURE thinner.
Worked well as a,sealer.
Paint on a budget of RM Dimont and the Dumont clear. Will gone a good job. Show quality on fact.
If lower cost or solid color nothing wrong with RM Limco Supreme line of RM
FYI diamond clear is very good.
I shoot house of color candy and us the RM Dumont clear on top paying job

This car was painted with their Viper Red paint.

Not Mopar related but I painted my brand X car with their base coat clear coat hugger orange. It turned out awesome!

I have used dozens of gals of the Summit acrylic urethane's in my work for non automotive or truck use. Its decent and affordable. I still have usable on the shelf a bit of the original Dupont IMron paints, my favorite.
I have used gallons of the Summit brand DTM epoxy primer, Did not impress me, and not likely I would buy it again.

Don't overlook Southern Polyurethanes for primer. Great stuff, reasonably priced and unparalleled support.

I believe Summit is, or at least was, made by Kirker and I think buying actual Kirker is cheaper. Summit brand didn't have the color I want, which was a Kirker color, so I ordered Kirker from these guys. In 2015, even though I am in CA I was able to order the regular stuff, not the super low voc or whatever California allows.

Thanks for the tip on Kirker. I assumed someone else made Summit paint, just like everything else they brand, but I wasn't too concerned with chasing it down. Might look at their catalog as Summit doesn't have exact color combo I want and I was going to have to mix up something close.

Overall comments seem to lean positive for color coats. Primer seemed contingent upon what you are using.

I only wish they offered more color choices. I have an upcoming build where I'm thinking about black and their single stage is at the top of the heap!

True. I do use their black base and it is black. Not black/blue or black/brown but black/black. Nice stuff.

A month or so ago I was searching some colors and came across a company that had some nice mixes at good prices. Unfortunately I forgot to bookmark their page. I'm hoping maybe someone here has seen it. Their label was a pale tan color and their logo looked a bit like a vintage hood ornament. Ring any bells with anyone?

Myself, although definitely not a painter by trade have always used the premium paints from PPG or similar. I also start the first coat of primer with that 1 mfg. and stay with their products all the way to the clear coat. Yes more expensive but, 30 years later I have had professional painters question the age of the paint.
My reason for doing so is many years back I mixed some products and had bad results. It was a painful experience to strip a show quality paint job back to bare metal and I swore I would never do so again. Normally I contact the area rep for whichever company I'm going with, tell them what I'm doing, and follow their recommendations with no deviation.
