Some people have asked about a few things so I figured I would put the information here and then copy/paste the link when I need to explain.

The car has :

Stock 5/16" fuel line and pickup it was born with. Stock tank and mechanical carter pump. I do use a supplemental small fuel cell deadheaded into the nitrous fuel solenoid when I spray.

Stock coil.

Stock distributor with a recurve. It is hooked to a analog MSD 6AL and has adjustable timing control from the drivers seat.

Stock style clutch fan (with jag clutch) and stock '65 radiator. No shroud and no thermostat. It does have an underdrive Moroso pulley on the crank. Stays cool on all but the hottest summer days in traffic!

Stock transmission with better clutches and a fwd pattern mvb. No billet drum and no bolt in sprag. Lots of flack over this but my contention is the engine doesn't spin high enough to need the drum and the sprag gets checked every time there is an issue with the driveline and burnouts are performed correctly with a Low Band Apply valvebody. Big 11" converter.

Stock k-frame, torsion bars and rubber bushings. Nothing fancy other than Wilwood brakes. Stock station wagon drums on rear.

Chrysler gave us a great platform that needs very little and can go very fast wihout the need for fancy aftermarket parts.

Getting ready for the 2021 season. Lots of cool nostalgia stuff on the radar including a brand new race this year. Lots of 275 drag radial racing as well that has some 6.50 index stuff so I may do some more of that. Fortunately the car is stock enough it fits in lots of events.

New M/T Drag radials and new 5 point camlock harnesses. I went with black this time for a little contrast.

Some better double adjustables Viking shocks are on order but 2-3 weeks out on them. drool They should help to hook on less than ideal surfaces. They probably won't help 60 ft. from where I am right now on a well prepped track with the Calvert single adjustables. Will be disguising them so they don't stand out with a unique method...

It will be a while before we can test the new shocks at the track. I put them on the 4 Compression and 4 Rebound setting and drove it around this afternoon. To my surprise, this thing rode better than it ever has! Amazing!

I'm curious as to what Howards lifters you are running and what spring pressures you have? I have a similar build,but 511 ci in an RB with Indy EZ heads for an A body. I was considering a Howards HR cam. Seems like you have had good luck.

Cam and lifters were ordered through Summit racing and the springs, locks and retainers had been changed and were on the heads when I bought them. The machine shop looked them over and said they would be fine for my cam. I've lamented here lately I wish I had taken notes during the engine build.

Howards recommended the 91774 lifter so that's probably what I'll use. I'm thinking my springs are good to go, Comp 928. You sure have everything working. Thanks for the input.

Thanks! I've had so much fun building, racing and driving it. It truly does everything well.

One particular goal I have in mind for this year is to run a 9 at the track and drive it home. (I live about 20 miles from the track.)

A minor update.

We had first test and tune of the season on Sunday. Wind was a headwind 25 mph and gusting to 40, so wasn't a great day but temps were great in the 60's.

The first pass was n/a to 1. Break in the new drag radials and 2. Get a good baseline on the new Viking shocks/settings.

It hooked did a small wheelie and ran an 11.50 and did what it was supposed to (it runs a little slower with the colder plugs, heavier weight oil and the nitrous plate impeding flow.) Usually runs high 11.30's to mid 11.40's depending on weather, so I was pleased with the first pass.

I turned on the bottle, made sure it was ~95°, and made a pass. The nose came up and then fell pretty quickly, causing it to buck and do a 1.50 60. (Should be high 1.30's).I adjusted the compression a couple of clicks and ran almost identical passes. 10.30/10.32 @ 130 mph. I had removed 50 lbs. out of the trunk and really should have left it so I wasn't making two changes at the same time.

So overall, not a bad day considering conditions and learning new stuff.

Nerd data points: It used 5.4 lbs. of nitrous and half a quart of supplemental fuel for 2 passes @ 250 shot setting.

Shock settings:

12 Compression and 4 Rebound for the n/a and first (10.30) nitrous pass.

10 compression and 4 rebound for the second (10.32) nitrous pass.

Nothing was hurt and you got the car out with the new goodies on it, I am going to call it a win.

What type of ballast are you using and how do you have it mounted?

I'm looking at options for mine, have a few ideas.

Absolutely! That's what we said coming home. Any day you can leave the track without breakage and you learn something is a good day.

I don't want to talk about ballast either! LOL! Mainly because we've been using one of the street tread 275 tires/cop wheel combos for quick, easy ballast. The plan was to weld in either some allthread or put in a weight box this last Winter and we just never got around to it. I mean, it was working, so....😄 Not exactly legal since it's not "attached" but they never tech inside the trunk since battery is up front.

We definitely want to have the ability to add more in case we want to do a couple of the small town street drags.

OK , real important here. Make or buy a flow tool. You could be too high on the fuel psi by 1/2 lb and that could be some MPH . All you need is way of holding a .073 nitrous jet in line. Let that flow off the regulator into a bucket and read the psi. Look at SJ videos on youtube

I made a flow tool from a hardware store 1/4 turn valve and pipe fittings, some leftover -6 AN fittings and line, and a decent gauge off ebay for about $30. I put a cap on the end of the outlet line and drilled a .073" hole in it. I chamfered the hole so it'd be a little nicer flowing.

I borrowed my buddy's really nice and expensive flow tool he bought from Gene Fulton to compare. They read exactly the same. I tried them multiple times and even swapped the orifice fittings, same result.

Pic shows mine up front.
