I like the factory stock look under the hood, but I also like the reliability and low maintenance of an electronic ignition system. I once hid a control box in the washer reservoir on a '69 Charger but that was easy since it's essentially a hollow box sitting on top of the inner fender. I would prefer not to mount the box under the dash but will do if necessary. I would also prefer not to mount it under the battery tray. So where is everyone hiding their boxes on a '71 B-Body?

When I converted my 68 Coronet to electronic ignition I mounted the ecu on the bottom of the a/c box. Did not drill any holes. I just made a mount that I could attach the the existing holes.

I don't have an ignition box so I don't have to hide it. I don't even have a distributor. When you don't have those things you don't have to hide them.

It would require a small amount of effort, but is there room on the rad support down near where the front valance is? Near where the valance meets the fender? I thought about that in my charger....

On the passenger side, the factory washer is long a stretches down to the frame box but maybe there might be a little room there. RRs only have 1 horn but the area where the second horn would mount is too high and easily viewable.

The regular MP ECU fits nicely inside a washer jar, did that on one otherwise-untouched car.
Another good place is below the horns on the rad support.
On another car the MSD box went behind the left headlamp area using a bracket (no added holes).
Under battery tray is a classic spot the OP already mentioned.

If you are not looking for stock Chrysler or MSD there is a trick to hide a GM HEI unit under the distributor. A company makes a bracket for it. http://www.designed2drive.com/

Might be an option.

i mounted my MSD 6AL under the battery tray in my hemi powered 572ci hemi air grabber 72 roadrunner.
i also left the stock factory electronic ignition system in their original locations.
i powered the MSD by cutting and splicing them together the brown and blue wire going to the ballast just before it left the factory harness. i then ran MSD power wires low along the cowl and then the frame rail to the box. i also ran the coil power wires along the same route and parallel to the factory harness
you had to look pretty hard to not tell it wasn't powered by the factory ignition system.
i had been asked several times how the hemi motor ran with factory ignition system.

I went with Pertronix system, no need to worry about hiding a box

Well, looks like there was just enough room inside the long thin washer reservoir. Petronix is good but I like the added features of the Rev-in-ator box.

I built a 70 hemi cuda for a guy several years back. Using an M+H harness.
I hid the module inside the car, made a bracket and mounted int to the left side of the brake pedal assy , basically just above your left foot
wiring harness went in using the body plug for the manual washer hose in the firewall

My MSD 6AL is hidden under the battery tray. Dial for rev limiter choices is mounted to framerail underneath it.

Hey Viper, you need to fake a coolant line inside that reservoir. Nice job!

always under battery tray or on F bumper bracket somewhere.. [paint it black].. remember heat kills em, so they need to be in the cool airflow if possible..

If it’s a big block you can use the same mountingbrackrt from 440 motor homes. It bolts to the rear vally pan rail and is made for the box to mount to
