Does anyone else here play around with the Honda Mini-Trails? I started into this and now I think I need to find a cheaper hobby!

I planned on buying one and restoring it but a buddy sent me a Craigslist link to a guy that had 3 restored Mini Trails for sale. I bought one since it was cheaper than buildng it myself! I have about $2500 in it and it came with knobbies and whitewalls. It is also upgraded to 70cc's. He showed me receipts totaling what I paid! Funny side story, we took it to a big car and bike show in Oklahoma and I entered it on a whim (took it there just to ride around). It ended up winning a big trophy for People's Choice and beat out a bunch of high dollar Harleys. Absolutely love it as a pit bike and gets all kinds of attention at the nostalgia races we attend.

I had one just like that ^ but it was all red and the headlight had been removed. 1978, my brother also had a 78 but his was orange and all original. Super reliable bikes, we were spoiled, no other bike was as reliable as those two. I got an ATC 70 when I was 5 years old secondhand from a cousin who had beat the crap out of it. I then proceeded to beat the crap out of it! I wore out 2 sets of rear knobby tires on that thing but that's the ONLY thing that wore out! Stone reliable! I always wanted a motorcycle but Mom said no. Maybe because dad got his back broken in a motorcycle accident when I was young? Much irony in this in that we had a string of 3 wheelers over the years but never a motorcyle because 3 wheelers were "safer". LOL!

My mom and dad surprised me with a 1983 atc 70 when I was 9yrs old. My dad welded up a trailer for his boss at the time in trade. His boss was a blown alky flat bottom boat racer and bought the 70 new to get alcohol at the boat races. I'm 42 today and still have it and is still in mint oem shape, I rode that thing almost every day until I was around 14. I'm super particular and cherish my stuff. It sits inside my spare bedroom as we speak along with a mint original 85 atc 70. We didn't have much growing up and that made me cherish my things. I'm big time into the Hondas, my family grew up going to the oregon dunes and all had atc's back in the day. I also have a nice 85 350x that's original and a almost nos 85 atc 250r. It's a passion of mine along with the mopars.... Lots of fun

I'm putting a '70 CT70 back together now. Have a few more that potentially could be done...but not sure I want to do it again. The yellow one is a '79 that I bought just as it sits. The 50 I just picked up last year. Also have a '69 CT70H (manual transmission) and a '72 CT70. Too many hobbies.

A buddy had a 350X that I got to ride quite a bit, but I always wanted a 250R. The 200X was a nicely balanced machine that I really enjoyed.

I’ve got a low mileage 1971 ct70. Soooo much fun!
It really doesn't matter whether you win or lose… as long as you look good doing it!

Honda had the secret on how to be in every childs dream. The Mini trail 50 the Trail 70 and a bike I never had but still have fond memories of- The 1970s XR75. That tall beautiful cylinder and head- lots of suspension travel that slender steel red tank with the winged Honda logo. Just pure perfection.
Keep old mopars alive.
