I recently built a B block using the factory inline 2x4 manifold. It will end up in a Christine clone, so it's actually a '350', but the intake manifold is the same. Had two Edelbrock AVS 500 cfm carbs on it, and took it to dyno. The A/F's were uneven from side to side, the carbs had the stock jetting. Just thought if the factory jetting/needles were biased someway like in a 426 Hemi, anyone happen to have information about the facory jetting?

there's a big difference between factory 343hp carbs and those edelbrocks. i have race specs for the factory 2970s and 2971s carbs but they're a smaller different carb than the edelbrocks. long shot might be finding old 400cfm or 500cfm carter performance carbs from back in the '70's. when edelbrock made their "smaller" carb all they did was screw up the primary booster. crummy carbs in my opinion.

Yes, there may be, but I would assume the intake might want similar style jetting variation, and would like to know what the stock jetting was to decide weather there is any sence in trying. It can be driven as is, but it's far from being perfect.

What are the original carbs you are trying to mimic? From the Carter book for the 1959-62 V8 they list the 2798 Frt and 2799 Rear for the 59 383 and 413.

Primary both are .089. The front Sec are .067 and the rear sec .055

These were 1 7/16 P and 1 9/16 S throats Idle jet .031 on both. Idle vacuum 19.5"

the carb numbers i have are 2970 and 2971, but jetting appears to be the same as the 2798/2799. those small throttle bores would have small venturii (especially the secondaries compared to the edelbrocks) and the listed metering rods and small jets would be near impossible to find.

You have a baseline now, just work with what you have.

Trying to compare OE against aftermarket, race against stock, why waste you time.

What I was thinking, change the ‘jet’ that feeds the cylinder with the issue, usually in the corners

That manifold is a real turd but I still am partial to them

Especially with the factory air cleaners on.

Ok, since there doesn't seem to be much staggering with the original carbs, I think I'll leave it like it is. I was pretty amazed of how well it worked, the short block is a 4.25" stroke 400 with homeported old, factory looking source heads, comp cams 275 degree hydraulic flat tappet and stock valvetrain. The valvecovers are temprary.
