Here are a few pictures to bring this up to date. I just got the front fenders back from being blasted. Apparently someone dropped the left front or hit it with something pretty hard as it came back dented in the front next to the headlight. runaway
The decal on the radiator support has the dealer service date still visible. I masked it off when I repainted the car in 1981 to save it. The area behind the hood hinges will need to be cut out and patched as well as the upper left front corner near the battery box. I think that is the worst of the remaining rust repair. the floor pans are solid .

I pulled the dent in the fender and prepped them for epoxy primer.

sucks about the fender...of course they denied any part of it? Those floors look fantastic.

My quarters are just like that. I admit thought I was pretty slick because I got the area where the glass lays on the side to fit nicely without cutting it (I held a piece of 3/16 steel in that glass channel and hit that with the hammer for quite a while to reshape that area, it worked better than expected), but when I test fit my molding recently
I found out I'm going to have to cut the bottom part exactly like you did to get the shape correct.

Your pics have definitely helped me out a bunch and I saved those + plenty of others in my FB album that you have probably noticed.
Thanks again Mark and keep 'em coming.

Hey Rich,
Obviously that is spot that AMD has not corrected in these panels.
We have to be happy that we caught it prior to painting etc. I guess.
I am very glad to hear that my pictures were a help to you.
You are moving along much faster than I am.
Keep up the good work ! beer

Yes Dave , I was told that the dent was already there!
Thanks for the compliment on the floorboards. I am glad to see I won't be doing any surgery on the floors .

I have epoxy primed the fenders, then skim coated them and I am blocking them out / prime and repeat. I think they are about finished. I stripped the driver's door and did similar rust repair to what was needed on the passenger door except the pinchweld was in much better shape on this one. The door has been skim coated and primed and is in the block sanding process as well.
I really hated to lose the hand painted RR birds from the doors . They were done by a friend that I haven't seen in many years.

Thanks Guys,
I am sorry for the slow response.
I have not been able to do a lot to the car, but here are a few pictures to bring this thread up to date. It looks like it will be a while before I can get back to it but I will as soon as I can.
The front valence was stripped and a few places ironed out, then epoxy , filler and urethane primed and blocked out. This leaves the hood and cowl panels as all that remains to be prepped for paint with the exception of the engine compartment. I stripped the undercoating from the inner fenders and they look good.

Mark

Thanks for sharing the progress and great history !! It sure means more to you, as it is part of the family !!! . . . looking at your pics, made me remember all the time I spent putting my Satellite back together, wondering if I would ever see the end and drive it. Well, that was 11 years and 15k miles ago now ! . . .

Sounds like you are enjoying your journey, and probably your siblings are as well !! . . . . great to have all those memories and stories !

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Guys for the kind words. beer
I am really happy to hear that the pictures have been helpful for others here.
I haven't made a lot of progress but I will share what I have .
The rust behind the hinges as well as the front corners or the radiator support had rust coming through and so was my focus for repairs now. I think this is the last of the rust repairs, at least I hope so !
