I recently bought my buddies 52 Dodge PU. Nice truck with a hot rod, street rod and rat rod theme. It was a semi shade tree project that turned out nice. Has a 330 Hemi, 727 and a E body 8.75. Not wanting to mess with the mechanicals Since they are pretty much fresh however I’d like to take the truck to the next level. Just wondering what the truck would look like with a slight chop. I kinda like the pilot house look but my curiosity is getting the best of me. Any on the forum own one or does someone have a pick of a chopped BSB?

that is my favorite era truck and if I ever bought a truck for myself it would be one of those. Sweet ride, looks lowered too.

I wonder if this is the build thread?

Yes, that’s Mike, bought it from him. He really did a good job on this truck

Personally I wouldn't advocate a chop as that would mess up the proportions. You can have a look by using photo shop but a little internet searching will reveal a few that have been done.

Yes, I think that it needs a very small hair cut.
Would it be worth it and would I do it? NO ! To much pain for a very small gain.
I have noticed that whenever a dog finds new land he pees on it to claim ownership, two legged male animals are no different, whenever we (my self included) acquire something new to us we want to change it, ... to make it ours
The same result can be achieved but maybe changing some other thing(s). thumbs

I’m not going to chop it, looks pretty good the way it is. I was just curious as to what one would look like chopped. Found these, one a mild chop and one with a more radical chop.

I have a 49 Dodge pickup in process right now. Mine is on a 92 Dakota 4x4 with a efi 318. I went with the 318 because I found an original 44,000 mile drive train that bolted onto the frame i had. Mine is a 5 window, so chopping that is out of the question. I had a glass specialist install all new glass on new rubber. Those corner windows were a major job, I just can't even imaging what it would take to do it with smaller corner glass then it came with! I think one of the things that make this era Dodge trucks look so cool is the tall windshield. Chopping it just ruins the look to me.

There is a build thread on wwwkillbillet.com under the 40s truck section. The thread title is "Darn, here we go again." if anyone want to check it out. its pretty much from the beginning (7/10/2020 until earlier this week) and its been updated regularly. I don't have any current whole truck pictures, but I'll post a few from after the glass installation back in Nov, A lot has happened since then.

I just finished building the dash, and am just getting started on the bucket seats and seat belts. Then is on to assembling the box. I have original box sides and rear fenders, and I'm using the Dakota donor's box floor. The truck does run and did move with a temporary seat. After the box assembly, its a ton of little stuff, then body work (I hate body work). The truck will be on the road this summer, (with or without paint). Gene
